Comments Thread For: Arum Denies Trying To Sign Bradley, But May Try Soon

Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, disputes published reports that his company is currently attempting to sign undefeated WBC/WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. According to Arum, there have not been any discussions regarding a potential working relationship. Bradley is still under contract with promoter Gary Shaw, but that contract expires, reportedly, on June 30. Once Bradley becomes a free agent, then Arum, among other promoters, will attempt to sign the young star.

Sounds like he's planning Pac/Bradley fight. Of course, that fight will get hated on too, somehow.

Stop it. Clottey, Margs, and Mosley were not worthy opponents or tough fights. Those fights got trashed as they should've been.

          Naturally.

But the writing has been on the wall for many months now that Bradley was dumping Shaw for Top Rank and he is going to fight Pacquiao next year. He just needs to build his profile up. I think him being the co-feature on the Pac-JMM card would help, but the $1.2 mil minimum might make that difficult (the Pac-Mosley undercard didn't cost that much combined). So TR has to fix the mess HBO and Shaw made.

The Clottey fight was a disgrace.

It was the best of the 3. Margs for the JWW title when he was 1-1 at weight and Manny never fighting at the weight was putrid. Shane and Manny was worse than that.

if this is true, then bradley is making a big mistake in banking on it and not fight khan first. marquez/pac is already in the bag for november this year. that would mean, if ever, bradley would be getting his pac fight next year in may, which is a year from now. a lot of things can happen. bradley needs to focus on breaking khan's glass jaw, instead of focusing on something else now.

Problem is, Shaw probably wants an extension if Bradley signs on to fight Amir but Tim doesn't want to spend the rest of his career fighting in 2,000 seat Indian Casinos. He wants the biggest fights on the biggest stages and Shaw can't give him that.

Sounds like Bradley wants out of his contract. Doubt that he is scared of Khan or about the money. He wants greener pastures.
