How is promoters assembling mediocre cards, only letting those who pay a huge chunk of change to go to the fight or buy the PPV, and then benefiting off of it good for boxing?

Sure it's good for the individuals getting paid.

It's not good for the health of the sport at all. How did all the fans who paid a bunch of money benefit? How did the millions of kids in the US and Canada who did not watch any of this card and the other PPVs benefit the sport? How do all the casual fans who buy 1 PPV a year who watched that garbage and now hate the entire sport benefit boxing?

umm..no. Its good for boxing if 1.2 million people will pay 55 bucks to watch a well known mismatch. It shows there is interest in the sport. That people want to see a good fight and a good matchup, and are willing to pay even if the odds are it won't be.

It shows interest, it shows passion and it shows that there is a future for boxing if big fights get made.

Promoters lie. That's what they do in order to make their fighter look good. This is also a business as well. How many times have GBP say that Mayweather's fights sold over 2 million and even said would be 4 million before only to have the number be much lower?

Yes they will because those casual fans have short term memory. When November comes around Pacquiao will be in another ppv fight and they will buy again.

The fight and the fight card wasn't bad with the exception of the opening bout.

everyone knew this fight was a mismatch. anyone who bought it likely knew that Mosley lost to May and drew with Mora (boxrec, people) and that Manny hasn't lost since early 2000.

Anyone familiar with their records, age, or who had any boxing knowledge at all knew this was a mismatch.

High PPV sales sucks. Can't wait until pirated streams are quality and the PPV model folds. Then we'll see real growth in youth participation, and more hardcore fans...

Big fights have had restricted showings since film was invented. If you can sell a fight PPV will always be around.

Successful PPVs show that the sport can sell, and besides most high level boxing is on premium cable. I wish more boxing was on network and cable TV but the superstars will always be on PPV.

The average joe is years away from using any stream.

It would be better if 30 million people pirated streams, and 10,000 bought the PPV. This model is obliterating the overall health of the sport. It needs to die.

It shows interest yes, but really, say 6 people per PPV were watching, that's about 8 million people, out of over 300 million. More people watch reruns of sitcoms than what is supposed to be a huge fight.
