but that wasnt his argument now was it? his argument was the last two and according to that justification, my point stands. and yes i cut his original post down to recent fights, but thats a huge part of what p4p is, what have u done lately.

i mean if ur gonna come in the forums to debate p4p, then do it. u cant laugh at someone else's post and then defend ur own post with the justification that its subjective. that defeats the point.

if ur not gonna debate p4p then dont come in the thread. his and ur argument are faulty.

well there were 7 guys ranked above him but that doesn't mean they are necessarily better. he only beat 2 top 10 guys and santos was all the way back in 2005. he beat number 10 rated julio by close decision while guys like kirklandand angulo destroyed him. then he clearly lost to konecy. i'm not seeing royalty there.

that division is stinky as hell and none of those guys there can transcend weight classes and move up and be successful. they should stay where they belong. dzinziruk was a tune up. no need to pretend it was a great win just because the guy was undefeated(not really) if pavlik fought dzinziruk he would be laughed at and lambasted to hell. he beat rubio(a proven top 10 middle) and he was labeled a tomato can basher.

I think Serg has a legitmate case. But I get what youre saying it is all opinion based.
Oh no doubt about that. But, people also need to realize that as much as Martincez have a case to being #1(I agree that he does) there is also a case that can be made that he could be as low as #3 or #4.

          • I agree with Jro and miron though. P4P rankings, and ATG for that matter, are a pretty absurd way to rate fighters. Mainly because there is absolutely no basis on how to rank a fighter across weight classes, let alone across generations.

No that is not a huge part of P4P....Why would I even debate a poster like yourself who doesn't know what the huge part of P4P is. Until you find out what the huge part of P4P is then you can debate P4P list.

so now ur telling me that ur recent achievements in the ring are not a huge part of p4p rankings? seriously? how could u possibly argue thats not the case? and once again, i clearly stated its a huge part. i did not state it was the only part.

and if u dont wanna debate with me, thats fine. my point still remains.

The huge part of P4P and the true meaning of P4P. Is if both fighters were the same size, same height, same weight, same reach, who would win with the skills and styles. That is the true meaning of P4P that is the huge part of P4P.

If it's recent achievements. Then you need to understand. That there is no definition for "recent". Recent can be last fight only. recent can be just one year, or recent can be last 3 years. Where does the "recent" cut off at?

what u gave is a definition of what p4p is. a definition i already knew. that does not tell u how ppl come to the conclusion of who represents a p4p fighter. recent achievements is obviously a factor. and what qualifies as a recent achievements is indeed subjective. with that said if u as a fighter go on a yearly break "a la floyd mayweather' u are removed from the list because u have absolutely no recent achievements. so yes, it is factored in. the reason martinez made it to the #3 spot was because of his dominating win over p will, a recent achievement. so yes, they do factor in. there is no way u can argue it doesnt.
