It is clear that the fight was very good until Cotto went into survival mode. Cotto has very good timing and fundamentals, which allowed him to beat Mosely. However, Pacquiao is a smarter fighter now, and breaks guys down making sure he wins every round. If you break guys down in a win or lose a round type of way, then the opponent has hope. If you break them down making sure it is a wide UD, they could quit.

Pac was not throwing nothing but fast lefts against Barrera
he did that with Marquez but not Barrera
everything he had against Cotto he had in the 1st Barrera fight
just that 1 night at the time, but he had it
the defensive moves, footwork, timing, everything
Pac was just in the zone that night
that's why that performance rates higher than the Cotto beatdown
Barrera had more to him than just the strength that Cotto had
Pac dogged him in all areas

I believe that Barerra fight is what set Manny up to be great, and also rank Barrera higher than Cotto, however, the Cotto fight is more of what Manny is about now.

He showed that without trying too hard to make weight, he can take a punch, that he can face a guy physically bigger, that he can adjust to a guy timing him, that he can deal with a guy who has intelligence, speed and power.

He showed himself that he can adjust, play mind games by asking to get hit, that he can use his feet wisely, he can break a guy down winning most of the rounds without going 100% but doing it smartly, that he can time a guy, counter, throw combo's with both hands and still be exciting.

Well that's one thing about Pac is his technical skills aren't given credit. Other than he's an offensive fighter brawler. He is a thinker, difference is he doesn't mind taking a hit in order to hit 2-4 or more times.

In the first I thought Cotto's jab was going to be a huge factor throughout the fight. In the second Manny was tagging Cotto almost at will and won it by a large margin in my eyes.

I was surprized how well Manny took Cotto's shots. Especially those left hooks.
