Former IBF super middleweight champion Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy officially signed on the dotted line to face Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz, who wants to pursue a professional boxing career in addition to his mixed-martial arts title reign. The boxing match will take place in the Fall of 2011. Promoter Don Chargin states, “This is a very dangerous fight for both men. Not only is this fight dangerous but stylistically it is very intriguing. I expected more resistance from fight fans and media in regards to this match-up but its amazing as to the hundreds of calls and e-mails I’ve received from fans on both sides wanting to see this match-up take place. I’ve received more than a few inquiries from some other very high-profile boxers that want to step up and fight Nick. It’s been a real whirlwind….I’ve been around boxing for quite some time and I’ve seen a lot of great, tough fighters in my six decades within the sport. I believe that if Nick had been one of those kids who had picked up boxing from a youth, he’d undoubtedly be a world-champion today. Sometime within the next 2 weeks I’ll be personally making the trek to Cesar Gracies gym to setup a private, closed door sparring session between Nick and a few nameless top-level contenders I have in mind.”

Lacy is shot but i think he still kos Diaz.

What's it matter? Diaz is far from being 1 of the best strikers in mma. And the guy is not gonna hang his head if his boxing career doesnt go far since he is still a jiu jitsu world champion which other mma fighters fear so much that it keeps his fights standing and makes it seem like he's good at boxing

Could you imagine if Diaz wins though?? It would be a disaster for boxing..

Just go to Sherdog and read the 7 pages they have so far about this fight... Not one of them really knows Lacy is shot to shit..

Well i chalk it up to the fundamental differences between mma and boxing as sports.

In many respects Diaz is also shot to **** he got dropped from ufc which is the big leagues of mma for losing 3 fights in a row and has been relegated to dominating mediocre, outsized fighters in strikeforce and was nearly knocked out by the 1 ufc reject he faced.

Difference is with lacy, once his reflexes are gone...he'll never be able to compete at the elite level again. With mma however....diaz could hypothetically return to the elite level even past 35 where he would be outclassed in striking but still be able to win fights with his jiujitsu.

Lacy cant throw the left anymore its completely gone,i wish he would have picked Mayorga cause honestly at this point Diaz has a chance against Lacy.
