Did you see how close the gap was between them after the first round? Manny just ran circles around him because Cotto stood right next to him, Manny didn't even had to lean his head forward to threw his combos. It's not like Manny's arms length are long, it was just that Cotto stood too flatfooted and his jab wasn't no longer effective because Manny had plenty space and tight close range to counter him with multiple angle combos.

Pac has little head movement, when he is not throwing or thinking about throwing, he keeps a high guard but can get popped by the jab and perhaps a straight right in a 1-2 combination

one other thing I realised is that the above turns out to be his advantage, with other fighters engaging after landing a few jabs, pac then unleashes his own offensive, his punches are just too good, coming from all angles while the guy he is fighting is on the offence himself (this was cottos biggest downfall early on, pac taking 1 shot but landing 3 himself)

Pac protects his chin very well, cotto landed a lot of shots to the side of pacs head, even do his ribs but very rarely did cotto land a clean shot in the fight direct on the chin which pac did himself early on, eventually resulting to knocks downs

leads me on if pac is beatable

my answer is yes as is every boxer I have seen. I honestly believe, an ugly ugly boxer like hopkins style can beat Pacman, landing that jab or 1-2 and then clinching right away, that for me is someone like floyds only chance, he did that very well vs hatton

again remember what i said, when the guy is landing his jab, he does open up a bit which lets pac in, if he sees a tiny bit of space, he exploits it

      the question is

can the other guy (floyd) land his one, two and then hold pac to stop him attacking

or does floyd end up like another mayweather

regardless this was a fcking amazing fight, cotto deserves major props, really dont think anyone in the world can beat pac at 147 right now but he gave it his all, pac was just too good

He'll be using spacing and keeping the range far enough just so that when Manny throws, he'll have no other choice but to lean a bit more forward, otherwise, his arms length won't reach. You can fight flatfooted and still be able to keep the gap range between you and your opponents at very far distance as possible by using, Jabs, feints, head, and upper body movements.

Cotto got beat and beat bad, but he did try to make the first 4 rounds competative. After that he was just trying to survive, but for the first 4 rounds Pac was working for it a bit.

I was just rewatching this fight myself.

Don't waste your time because we all know PAC will get crush. PAC already beat Cotto but in a fantasy fight will still lose to Cotto.
Pac wins all fantasy fights now, when there is a possibility he will fight them. Against Cotto he was favourite so in a fantasy fight people assume Pac would have beat Cotto.

Its only in fantasy fights where Pac will never fight them he loses. You can say SRR or SRL would beat Pac, because people know Pac can never fight them as he is a different era to them, so we cant prove that Pac wouldnt lose to them.
Its easy to say this person would beat Pac, or that person could.
