LAS VEGAS -- In boxing circles, it is a well-known theory that Shane Mosley has been most troubled by fighters who are taller and/or defensive -- a testament to five of the six losses and the lone draw on his 53-fight ledger.

Cotto in the middle rounds used good footwork and a good jab to control Shane Cotto movement was confusing him he was out boxing him easily until the last few rounds he started running and Shane came on strong made the fight close some could argue Shane won that fight

Does a south paw really need a jab?

isn't the point of a jab to control the distance and set up the other guy?

thing is pac is probably the best ever at not over extending his punches, he times them so well that he does not have to set up the guy, he just uses his angles and is able to launch clean shots, then use his movement to step away to set up another offensive move

if pac had bad timing and had trouble finishing his range or was over reaching to land on mosley, then I would think he would need to use his jab vs mosley but imo pac doesnt need it against anyone. his amqazing movement compensates for not using his jab

                I Knew it!

Im not 1bit suprised that this is the Fight(Cotto-Mosley) that Coach Freddy Roach is looking at the Most. Yes this was the one fight that worried me the most. Cotto DID frustrate Mosley with his Feints and Jab, he kept Mosley from setting up with that Jab, But Cotto's Jab is a bit unusual in that its Kinda like an " elongated jab"(IT holds its position a Second Longer than the normal Jab/freezing the opponent in place/offsetting his timing), that and his powerful low base that he naturally has. Cotto was able to implore this and make it work for him. But Paqiuao I believe, CANNOT Implore this same type of "Jab Technique" that Cotto "Naturally" CAN DO. His style doesn't lend it self to using this type of Jab, that split second more tht its takes to use this Type of Jab, would place Manny more at risk of taking a good counter shot, that would effect his CHIN MORE THAN, a Cotto or a Mayweather who are more Natural at 147lbs(thereby naturally able to take the PUNCH BETTER THAN a Pacman), who also effectively used this "Jab Technique" against Mosley to offset his rythym and Timing. Pacman is gonna HAVE TOO protect his CHIN more than Cotto did or Mayweather had too after Rnd 2(LOL),Hence Roach's approach to Box Shane a bit more as part of the Strategy. Pacman moves ALOT more, and give more Angles than both those fighters. This Jab Technique that Coach freddy Roach is talking about, essentially "Freezes or throws OFF", the opponents "Tempo or Rythym", but once again the Fighter using this type of jab also has to hold his position for a split second more, leaving them vulnerable in the process, I've seen Pacman hurt in several bouts, and I dont think his style lends well to holding that positon for a split second more against the style and POWER Counter SHOTS of a fighter like Mosley. Pacman gets hit and he Likes to hit back, So if he attempts this, i think it will back fire in the end, hopefully. It also depends on if Naazim and Mosley have seen this as a Potential Strategy Implorement, and have Prepared to overcome this , as Part of the Game Plan. but Very Intelligent of Coach Freddy Roach to see that as a potential exploiting point though, i'll give him that for sure. LOL......should be interesting folks.

No way in Hell pAC fights like cotto he is whole different style....the thing shocked shane the most in the cotto v Mosley fight was cotto's quick hands!!! cuz everyone thought cotto was a very slow guy but he isnt he can cut off the ring very good and he stayed with the gameplan with that hard jab on mosley all 12 rounds and whenever shane landed a big shot cotto took it and backed shane up with hes own power punching which shane had to respect cuz cotto is very heavy handed...but pAC dont jab its more of a range finder and overall hyper fighting style ...
