Comments Thread For: Juan Manuel Marquez-David Diaz on July 2 in Las Vegas?

According to reports in Mexico, Juan Manuel Marquez, the world lightweight champion of the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organization, is planning to return on July 2 -possibly in a Las Vegas venue. One of the opponents being considered is Mexican-American David Diaz, a Chicago-born fighter with a record of 36 wins, 17 KOs, three defeats and one draw. Marquez wants to have a July fight to shake off the rust before facing Manny Pacquiao in a possible trilogy meeting in the fall. Diaz, a former WBC lightweight champion, has a decision win over Erik Morales, but later lost the title when he was knocked out by Manny Pacquiao in nine rounds.

If no Zab, this seems the most logical choice.

JMM can't stay inactive for a year if he is gonna fight Manny. Diaz is a southpaw and will be a good tune-up.

Some of you guys need to relax. Its a tune up fight to keep off any ring rust when JMM prepares for Pac in the Fall/Winter. Its a solid fight against a former World champ plus he's a southpaw.

At least fight morales at 140. That would generate more interest and money. Fck diaz marquez is one dum mother fcker.
