Comments Thread For: Arum Not Concerned With Alvarez Offer To Marquez

Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, told BoxingScene.com that he's not concerned with Golden Boy Promotions offering Juan Manuel Marquez a potential fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Marquez has an offer on the table for a fall trilogy showdown with Top Rank's superstar, Manny Pacquiao. Golden Boy's CEO, Richard Schaefer, told BoxingScene on Monday that he's willing to match the Pacquiao offer by presenting a lucrative package to Marquez for an Alvarez clash. Golden Boy has until February 2012 to match any competitive offer received by Marquez.

I am in favor of anything that cripples Bob Arum in any significant way.

Of course Pac-JMM III is going to happen. Canelo can't even honor a contract with a 150lb catchweight and Marquez was the one who ripped him for coming overweight.

Floyd needs a tuneup for Pacquiao and he most definitely won't fight as soon as October-November if he is fighting this July-August.

Yeah, when he was growing at ages 17 and 21 for junior flyweight and flyweight bouts.

Of course, Manny's going to come in at 150 against Marquez and rehydrate up to 165lbs.

ODH has lost his mind. I liked him much more as a boxer. Awful, awful business man who opens his mouth up way to fast in hopes to be the first to report breaking news. Thank goodness GBP has HBO to bail them out. Even HBO knows now they we're in the wrong and way over their heads with the fight packages they gave GBP. The last thing Oscar wants to do is put his prize fighter Alvarez, who would only be the 6th top fighter with Top Rank, into the ring with JMM. If JMM wins there goes Alvarez marketability. Cotto almost knocked this ginger out. Is this worth putting Alvarez/GBP future on the line just to get over on Top Rank and keep JMM in house Oscar??? You know it's a lose lose for you because you'll need Alvarez to win to keep afloat but you will still need to make money off of JMM for two more fights if he loses to Alvarez. Another JMM lose will kill his market value. Good luck Oscar! Once again your out kicking your coverage.

As far as Khan goes for saving GBP. It's pretty clear his father and team will kill his future with all their bad business ideas. Good luck Golden Boy
