This is pretty interesting. Of course I'm not gonna buy it, but it opens up possibilities for video producers or those who choose to record the fight for their own personal use *ahem*.
Ever watch a highlight video with the exact same old clips? It gets kinda stale. Now you can watch highlights, or even whole fights in a totally different perspective, depending on what angle the recorder chooses. If multiple people record these fights, the possibilities are vast.
I always enjoy watching the post-fight HBO highlights because they always show key moments in the fight at different angles from what was shown on the original broadcast.
As long as the stream is like 720p it should make for some good footage.Comment

This is the way the majority of PPV's will be sold in the next 10-15 years. And this has a far wider audience than just HBO or SHO. This is truly a brillant and big picture idea from Arum and Top Rank and if yall can't see that your a moron plain and simple.Comment

Yeah, I don't get why people are hating on this. Pretty great innovation IMO. Wish it could be cheaper though.Comment

Here's why I hate on it: People are gonna be paying $55 and the quality will be crap, it will be jumpy, the resolution will be low, and they won't give you a refund.
Have you ever watched a Top Rank off-tv undercard stream? Me neither because it's not worth the effort. The stream disappears, and it's unwatchable.
I like the progression and move by Top Rank. I hate that they are charging $55 to be a beta tester with no guarantees or demonstration of quality: from what we've seen from Top Rank there was no chance I'd pay them $55 for a stream...Comment

I like that they're trying out new things and streaming is only a natural progression, but it's way too expensive for something that we don't even have clear assurance of it's quality.
They need to do a better job of showing buyers what they'll be getting. Perhaps a video example showing how interactive the stream is.
The least they can do is offer it in tiers and have a $30 stream in 480p w/o the enhanced features for people to at least think of it as an impulse buy.
But of course, all that doesn't matter if we still don't know exactly what we're getting.Comment

Yep, like what I said earlier in this post, Top Rank isn't forcing anyone to buy it. They have a target demographic and obviously most people on this board are not in it. No need to make a fuss.
I give them props for trying out new things. The concept itself sounds cool, just wondering if they can execute it successfully though. The NFL implemented something like this for Sunday Night Football games on NFL.com, IMO it wasn't as cool as they made it sound though.
I don't think it's fair to judge a product you, or anyone has had a chance to try yet. Come back on the 8th after you hear from everyone how much it sucks. I don't think a free non-televised undercard stream and an online-exclusive interactive stream of a high profile fight are comparable, but that's just me.Here's why I hate on it: People are gonna be paying $55 and the quality will be crap, it will be jumpy, the resolution will be low, and they won't give you a refund.

I think it's obvious there is some money being put behind this effort. An online stream for fights that couldn't even make it to be televised, not so much.
You may be right about the "beta," crapshoot nature of it. But you're not buying it, so why do you care? IMO lets just wait until it happens to pass judgement.Comment

Interesting but it is late in the game to introduce such a thing, really they should have been upping this all along unless they knew it would be a glorified BETA test (and when they take streamers to court they can not use it not being available for sale online as some sort of excuse).
A week before the fight is hardly time to really get the news out at least if you are trying to maximize the audience, if they just want to say hey look we innovated a bit and not have it be a complete disaster turning off people then maybe this is the route to go.Comment
