Should Abner fight Nonito?

I agree...so im guessing no one has as high hopes for Abner as i do? Well do any of you see potential in him of maybe one day developing into a Mexican Great? Cause i know Donaire is headed towards greatness(if his wife doesnt intervene).

mares is still growing as a fighter imo. donaire is reaching his prime, so i just don't see mares keeping up with donaire if the fight was to take place later this year. mares needs more fights under his belt to try and predict him becoming something great, it's too early to tell imo.

Well he was inactive for 2 years or so due to an injury..plus he's young and you are right, he has a way to go. I just think it would be amazing if he manages to fight Donaire before Nonito moves up. Plus after seeing both fight Vic and the outcome i think Abner should be able to box against Donaire pretty well...as long as he doesnt catch a bomb he will be alright. I can honestly only see him win by decision tho. Agbeko vs Mares is a great fight tho so for now i think he has his hands full.

Well Agbeko had a recent interview stating the match can and should be ready for around june or july. Plus Mares doesnt want anyone else but Agbeko at the moment so yeah...it's still on. It's going to be a war!

If so who would win? Abner is currently my favorite since he has proved he has heart,chin,skill and can slug it out. On the other hand i know Nonito is just a monster and has speed,skill and too much power for the lower classes. I have a feeling Nonito might move up to super..(it's just a hunch). If ever i think they should box it out..thing is i have no clue who would win. Both have speed but i think the only way Abner could win is on points, meanwhile Nonito could win by ko or points. Plus it seems like Nonito carries his brutal power(Kochulito and Sidorenko). Also, it seems to me that Abner has a horrible time with Southpaws, just look at Vic. Perhaps its because Vics stance is awkward but Abner has only fought 2 southpaws in his pro career. Anyway Nonito and Abner are both greats! Who would win?

damn i never even though of this potential matchup! what a ****ing fight this would be. I have to ponder this one for a few days before I can visually play it out. I love both of their styles - Mares is one of the last true combination punchers, and donaire represents the "new, evolved" style of fighting - the "read and react", but he manages to still be entertaining and aggressive somehow.

I think it would be a bit more competitive if Abner manages not to get KTFO though. Plus you are right, i honestly hope Nonito moves up to featherweight so he can really have some challenging fights.

at tis point i tink abner present nonito with the best competition. no disrespect to moreno or agbeko. i tink to fight nonito you has to have a lot of heart and with the darchinyan fight we have no doubt that abner has.
