Alvarez is the better fighter. The stronger and more fundementally sound fighter.

Ortiz has a speed, explosiveness and the experience advantage.

Might be too much of a step up fpr Alvarez and I dont think 147 makes it fair.

At 147 Ortiz beats a weight drained Saul.

    At 154 Alvarez stops Ortiz.

i like both, but ortiz gets a UD.
saul can't make 147, is pretty slow and opened for shots.
ortiz has pretty good footwork to use the entire ring, make saul gas to about halfway through the fight, and coast to a decision. i don't think either one can knock each other though.

I don't know man...Ortiz beat a damn good fighter in Berto, And his fight night weight was 160, at 54 he might mess up and take Canelo's 0 just like he took Berto's.

          Way too early dumb thread.

But in 5 years when this becomes a legit fight I think Canelo beats him he is the bigger stronger more powerful man and is only getting better.

Canelo is so underrated on this site.

At first thought, I would say Canelo, but Ortiz is very explosive and can fight pretty well in the later rounds as well. To me, it's a matter of how well Canelo's chin holds up until around rounds 9-10. If it does, he wins a decision. Otherwise, Ortiz by knockout. If Jose Cotto could hurt Canelo like that, I'm sure Victor can. Plus Canelo has a squared up stance and fits perfect for Ortiz's southpaw style, so I think he's hittable.

I actually think he's tremendously overrated.

He's decent, a strong kid with decent-ish pop, but he's nothing special.

I think Ortiz smashes him to bits tbh
