Is Muhammad Ali's win over George Foreman the greatest heavyweight win ever?

I believe that Jack Johnson's win over Jim Jeffries was the most important, vis a vis the vicious racism then prevalent in the US. It has been reported that there were riots all over the country, and about 16-18 pewople killed in mob violence.
World famous writers like Jack London get involved, coining the term "The Great White Hope"....even Jim Corbett was a Jeffries' sparring partner, Old John L. Sullivan turned out at Jeffries' camp....
And, they enticed Jeffries out of retirement with an enormous (for the times) purse of well over $100,000, I think $130,000(?). He lost over 100 lbs in weight for this fight.Comment

I lack the boxing knowledge to make any kind of definitive declaration regarding the ATGness of this awesome win.
Furthermore, I don't trust you and suspect that you may be some kind of stealth Klit nuthugger on a mission to diminish Ali...

this^^^^You would say that.
Analyst and public opinion was stacked against Ali when he took on Foreman. He was an old man about to be destroyed by the ferocious Lion, the hardest puncher, the baddest guy in the history of the sport (public perception).
The manner in which Ali toppled the Foreman myth, the strategic daring, absorbing what he did and then knocking out the beast, against all the odds, significantly exceeds the glory of Frazier's deserved decision win over Ali in a great, competetive fight.
i believe this is the greatest, the atmosphere that time was not only limited in africa and USA, its a global event. the excitement created by the event reaches far corners of the world. George Foreman was the epitome of a badass thats really bad before tyson and that grill thing. george is bad attitude in and out of the ring. the result of that fight was the headlines in newspapers all over. man, you never feel that now when were supposed to, because of internet, but no, no heavyweight personality has the charisma and mystic to command such. i pity these new generation of boxing fans who always professes to know a lot about boxing but no, they dont know shiets. they only know how to copy and paste, to plagiarize.Comment

this is whats im saying.Foreman was a beast, I believe he was something like 40-0 37KO's when Ali beat him. The manner in which Foreman destroyed Frazier in two rounds knocking him down 6 times just makes Ali's win over Foreman greater. Foreman was viewed as invincible after his demolition of Frazier.
if were talking about a beast and a monster atop the ring, George Foreman's persona rightly fits the bill. not a few thought ali was committing suicide then and theyre like resigned to the fact that ali will die and be killed by the beast foreman in the ring but lo and behold ali slayed the beast in the fashion expected foreman will do him in. dang, i just recalled the time were watching it on tv.Comment

I'm almost jealous of ur DEAD ON reponse even though I also mentioned Johnson's win over Tommy Burns in 1908. Good stuff bro!
Johnson win over Jefferies caused the only other nation race riot in the U.S. other than the assasination of Dr. King!
How can ANYONE miss that when speaking of great hw wins of all time?Comment
