Why don't we get sportsmanship like this any more?

There was a huge article in Sports Illustrated about it...the guy is straight up guilty as hell. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau...0944/index.htm
And the majority of Americans don't even know or care who the hell Manny Pacquiao is nor do they know or care who Floyd Mayweather Jr is. Boxing isn't popular here at all anymore. If I went and asked random people to name a boxer who is still fighting most people couldn't do it. This whole idea of Pacquiao being a global superstar just isn't the case here in America.
And yes, tons of people think Pacquiao is on steroids...why do you think so many people are on here talking about it everyday? Why do you think those netcafe pinoy had to make a "red Gay brigade?" because they get their ass handed to them daily on this forum, so the only thing they can do is "red k" people (which nobody gives a **** about anyway)Comment

He has never tested positive. So the rest is speculation and Floyd Landis is not exactly the most trustworthy source. There was a huge article in Sports Illustrated about it...the guy is straight up guilty as hell. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau...0944/index.htm
That said, and like I said, from here on we are speculating, I fully believe cycling is full of systematic doping, all signs point to it. It is very unfortunate, but I wouldn't bet on any of the top 100 riders being clean.
Still I would be shocked if they ever do find something with Armstrong, because he made such great efforts in saying he is clean and call me naive, but I am really buying his "I went through chemo, why would I ******ly harm my body with doping?" story. But either way, his achievements in sports and life in general would still be absolutely impressive and he is still an idol and inspiration for many people, especially cancer patients, and that counts for something as well.
Doping is not always a black and white matter, of course it is morally wrong and unsportsmanlike, but it's not as easy as that in some sports. I really doubt you could make it as a young cyclist nowadays without doping unless you are really talented and a once-in-a-million genetic freak.
Back on topic, Manny Pacquiao is very good for boxing and his popularity helps the image of the sport a bit with the general public (being on TV shows, etc...). The sport itself is not exactly on the height of his popularity, that's not his fault, but personalities like Ali or Tyson don't come along every couple of years.
Whether he uses PEDs is even more speculation than with Lance Armstrong, because unlike cycling, we have no idea if and how common doping in boxing really is. Unless proven otherwise, those speculations are poorly based on accusations by Roger Mayweather.Comment

lol majority... bs! .. just a handful of ******ed mayweather fans... who would eat crap if floyd said it was good.Except for the part where he is thought to be highly su****ious of cheating by a majority of American boxing fans...that is like saying Lance Armstrong is a great ambassador for his sport...
Lance Armstrong shattered records, beat cancer, got called a cheater by pretty much everyone who wasn't american...turns out he was in fact a cheater!!!
Manny Pacquiao shattered records, won a seat in his congress, gets called a cheater by pretty much everyone who isn't Filipino....
If it walks, talks, and looks like a duck...(hint: it isn't Floyd Mayweather) It just might be a duck!!!Comment

There's a reason for this, it's because the youth of today is only interested in themselves. It's the culture we have created.
You are now taught to NOT say thank you, I'm sorry or excuse me. Instead, you are taught to "get yours" and "Do you".
Those older generations were real people, who cared about each other and understood that at the end of the day, it's only a sport and only money. There are much more important things in life.Comment

i agree with this big time. most people i ask have no idea what the hell i'm talking about.
i talk to a lot of the people from the philippines too and pacquiao isn't the huge deal he's made out to be. at least in my experiences talking to people from over there. they know who he is but they don't watch his fights or really care about boxing.Comment

Also the thug life mentality wherein fast money, "being tough", pollyana-attitude, anti-social and me-first...oh wait, they're all the same!
