Arum wanted Pac vs Cotto, which was the better matchup/choice at the time, so that fight happened.

i dont know about you but if manny fought shane in 2009, then again people will say pac duck hatton and cotto and pac should fight them in 2009..what a waste..just enjoy boxing dude and be thankful that pac is still around..we all knew manny help the sport of boxing a lot!!

I wouldn't have anything to say negative about Manny at all if he fought Shane in 2009 because Shane was the man to beat after he smashed Antonio Margarito.

I think everyone is pretty much missing the over all view right
now. I see it like this. Manny Pacquiao looked spectacular against
David Diaz and Oscar De La Hoya but prior to them fights he fought
to a questionable decision win against a tough Juan Manuel Marquez
and Ricky Hatton is a bigger pressure fighter that is very durable and
even in his worst performances he fought hard and went toe to toe
with bigger men and didn't quit nor give up! So the notion going
around stating that lil Manny is going to stop Hatton at his
comfortable weight that NO other 140lb fighter was capable of
doing prior, is just too hard for me to believe.

Especially considering that Hatton knows how important this fight
is and that he has Floyd SR in his corner. Honestly I don't think
Hatton will allow Manny to throw all them fast punches because
Manny will be backing up most of the time. Plus, if you look at it
like this, eventhough Pauli has lil power, he still has a durable chin
and Hatton was rocking and almost dropping him with a single punch
and it could be possible that Pauli at his comfortable weight (140)
chin is more solid than Manny's because Manny has been hurt and
wobbled by a lesser puncher in Marquez and I know for sure that
Manny is not going to be able to dance around and avoid a game
Hatton without getting hit for 12Rds.

I did pick Hatton over Pacquiao. Hey, don't blame me for atleast thinking it would be competitive but of course Pac fans knew that Hatton wasn't much of a challenge. I like to call myself an optimistic person and hope for a competitive fight. So say for instance if I pick Mosley over Pac and Pac wins. Will you guys hang that over my head for the rest of our lives because you guys already knew that Mosley didn't stand a chance like Hatton? Because as of right now, you Pac guys are trying to pass Mosley off as a threat but I bet you if I pick Shane over Pac. You are going to say that I don't know anything about boxing and I'm hating on Manny because I didn't choose Pac. Which one is it? Is Mosley a threat or not? Why should I be constantly reminded of picking against Pac by his fans? You know why? Cause apparently Pac fights are already won before he gets in the ring.

Mosley was ranked #1 at WW and just came off of a spectacular win against Antonio Margarito who pummeled Cotto and took his title. The only thing that made Cotto better was that Cotto was a Top Rank fighter and all the money could be kept in house. PLUS Cotto looked not that good in his match against Clottey. Had a big gash over his eye and Pac still forced a reluctant Cotto to defend his title at a catchweight. Eventhough Miguel was the Champion. It was Cotto's fault to for letting Arum pimp him like that BUT in no way was Cotto a better win than a fight with Mosley status wise. Roach didn't want none of Shane after Margarito and that's a fact. Arum wanted Pac to fight Cotto and he did because Arum is pimping Manny and he seems to like it.

I never discredited the Hatton win at 140. That win was legit for the title. No problem there. Shane was the man to beat at WW though. Shane had already beat Margarito before Pac fought Cotto. Shane was begging Pac for a fight while Pac was waiting to see the outcome of Cotto/Clottey. Sure Cotto beat Mosley but barely, as an undefeated fighter AND at 147. Pac was looking for his 7th title and Shane had Cotto's that he won from Margarito. Roach didn't even want to give Shane a 145 catchweight like Cotto.
