BoxingScene Staff Predictions - Pacquiao vs. Hatton

I think everyone is pretty much missing the over all view right
now. I see it like this. Manny Pacquiao looked spectacular against
David Diaz and Oscar De La Hoya but prior to them fights he fought
to a questionable decision win against a tough Juan Manuel Marquez
and Ricky Hatton is a bigger pressure fighter that is very durable and
even in his worst performances he fought hard and went toe to toe
with bigger men and didn't quit nor give up! So the notion going
around stating that lil Manny is going to stop Hatton at his
comfortable weight that NO other 140lb fighter was capable of
doing prior, is just too hard for me to believe.
Especially considering that Hatton knows how important this fight
is and that he has Floyd SR in his corner. Honestly I don't think
Hatton will allow Manny to throw all them fast punches because
Manny will be backing up most of the time. Plus, if you look at it
like this, eventhough Pauli has lil power, he still has a durable chin
and Hatton was rocking and almost dropping him with a single punch
and it could be possible that Pauli at his comfortable weight (140)
chin is more solid than Manny's because Manny has been hurt and
wobbled by a lesser puncher in Marquez and I know for sure that
Manny is not going to be able to dance around and avoid a game
Hatton without getting hit for 12Rds.Comment

Lets take a look...
If hatton will use jab to narrow the distance pacquaio will certainly fire back with combinations... The thing is if hatton can take those combinations as what he did to malinaggi's jab then he can push him back all night...
If hatton is very accurate that every time he usses his jab hits pacquaio and pacquaio wasn't able to land his combinations... Then hatton will certainly be able to push pac back... Unfortunately pac is harder to hit than hatton...
Lastly, if hatton's powerful boby punches find's its target before he was been hit by straight lefts of pac, game over for pac...
I think its really a 50/50 chance.... I think hatton is a betting underdog but come fight night pac is the live audience underdog...Comment

Hatton By KO
I find it hard to believe that no one is picking Hatton to win by KO/TKO... Early in his career, Pacquiao has been stopped twice with decent body punches. How's he going to take a devistating body blow from Hatton (which happens to be his money punch)? Have we all forgotten Hatton-Castillo???Comment

Wow this fight is more one sided than the Manny/Oscar fight.
People have just bought in to the whole Pacquiao hype it seems. They are looking at Manny with rose tinted glasses now. After his last two wins, he can do nothing wrong because they were one sided beat downs at higher weight classes. That sounds very impressive on its own. But when you look at the actual details and realities of the fights, there is not too much to be impressed about other than he jumped up in weight.
Everyone has been fooled. Ricky is not as talented as Manny naturally, but the fact he is the best in this division, who has faced tougher opponents than Manny his whole career and who has a style Manny has never dealt with before, is more than enough to seal the victory.
When has Manny ever faced someone as strong and as powerful as Ricky? When has he ever had to deal with a JWW's hit to the body or head? Never. Ricky has been doing this his whole career, against bigger and stronger guys than Manny - he's used to it by now.
Why is Manny this super-hulk, who has power and skill unlike any other? Because of his last two wins? Again, they proved NOTHING. What happened in his last real test, and at a lower weight? He lost by most people's accounts.
I expect this to be a very emphatic win by Ricky, and Manny can stop deluding himself and his fans and move back down to lightweight and below where he belongs.Comment

First off one of one of these days, I 'm going to have to sit down and bet some points against somebody out here, and I am going to need some intructions on how to do it too. However I din't have the time right now, because my lucky ass is on my way to Vegas to watch this terrific matchup.
Any way, let me kepp it short and sweet. Hatton by stoppage, relatively early I suspect 5th or 6th. All this talk about a enormous speed advantage for Manny is nonsense. I'll believe it when I see it. I think Ricky cuts off the ring easily against Manny, and then it's on. This will be an inside fight , one that expect Ricky to take full advantage of. He will use great use of the jab to shortin the distance, and unles Pac can catch him on the way in this is going it will be a bad night for him. Too much size and strengh, and more than enough speed. Oh yeah , and a better trainer. Peace out.defensively superior? neither hatton, pacman, or marquez are defensive wizards. they're only high-octane offensive fighters, which is why neither of these guys could ever beat a fmj.
i had this gut feeling......the magic were gonna pull it off against the sixers last night w/o howard AND lee.......i got that same gut feeling as it relates to the upset in this fight....real ****.
this fight reminds me eerily of cotto-margarito......being a quick, combination puncher is good, but when you end up mixing it up with a naturally bigger guy, and not using your skills like you should, bad things happen.
hatton KO 9th round.....I think everyone is pretty much missing the over all view right
