Why did Khan stop hitting Maidana in the body?

Well put. That part in bold, makes him appear robotic, doesn't it?
I can understand that all you need to do is win, and you can do that on points. But trying to end it ASAP saves you from a possible comeback or (bad) judges decision.
Do you think then that Roach is at fault for not insisting that Khan get in some more shots to that spot again? Or do you think Roach might have told him the opposite? (Forget what you did and just carry out our previous plan?)
If so, that almost cost Khan the fight in Rd 10.Comment

Maybe he got countered once and immediately knew his boundariesAfter Khan got the KD in the first round, he didn't seem to want to hit him there much again.
Makes no sense. When something like that happens you create a Trigger Point (TrP), and the subject is far more easily injured again by blows to that spot.
The Trigger Point radiates outward and also can affect the vagus nerve, which is why the person has trouble breathing. It can even temporarily affect heart rhythm. Feels like you are dying.
Boxing people intrinsically know some of this. Either Khan or Roach at fault here. Keep on that spot!
Khan though just seemed to be happy to dance out of harms way and pile up points till he got caught.
Why didn't he keep hammering there?Comment

people need to realise, amir's left hok to the body is his secret weapon. If anyone has not yet done so, look at amir's first 10-11 professional fights and out of 10 he finished off like 5 or 4 opponents with the 'left hook to the body'. This is his natural shot, if people dont recall he actually decked malignaggi with the same shot, and had late reaction on malignaggi, but it wasnt called as a knock down. This left hook of amir is secret deadly weapon, and is highly underrated by some.Comment

I think you are right about this at a deep level regarding Khan.
I think he does not have a warrior's heart. He had the guy, instinct alone would have a boxer wanting to go for that shot again. Not recklessly or such. But he is happy to try to be out of harm's way and get points.
Not gonna work with Bradley who will swarm him from the getgo.I think Khan and Roach work out clearly defined fight plans prior to the fight and Khan's mindset is to stick to it. As I said Khan is not an innovator think on your feet fighter. After the body shot KD I think Roach would say bank it and stick to the original fight plan. That would fit in with Khan's comfort zone. With a fighter with more intelligence and tougher chin like Manny Roach would say go to the body. Roach works around the limitations of his fighter. Who knows if Amir went to the body he could have left himself open and got hurt.Well put. That part in bold, makes him appear robotic, doesn't it?
