Comments Thread For: Team Rhodes: We Need To Batter Canelo or KO Him

David Coldwell, the trainer of junior middleweight Ryan Rhodes, knows it won't be easy to beat the boxer who is arguably the biggest star in Mexico, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, in his hometown of Guadalajara. The fight will take place on June 18 for Canelo's WBC junior middleweight title. Coldwell knows his fighter has two ways to go about things - to give Alvarez a beating for twelve rounds or to stop him inside the distance. They have a plan in place and won't get reckless by wasting rounds in pursuit of a knockout victory.

      nice one.

I'd imagine Rhodes will fight almost exclusively as a counter-puncher. I'd imagine Canelo to pile up the early rounds and have enough in the bank if it goes 12. That said, Rhodes must have every faith he can hurt Canelo.

I'd rather be Rhodes than Canelo - too much experience, too much savvy.

i wouldnt say otis grant was a nobody, up until their fight otis had only lost to a quincy taylor (whos only loss after this was to keith holmes)and then after to a prime roy jones junior.
ryan rhodes was a real prospect during stablemate naseem hameds reign at f/w. the grant fight was way to early against a more controlled fighter but, was a massive learning curve and ryan was not bitter about this.
im picking ryan to beat canelo and mosley to ko pacman.....anyone want the double with 20k on the whole affair?

Canelo couldn't KO a career WW in Matthew Hatton, who is ****.

Rhodes is a wily, awkward, big JMW who's fought at MW.

                    Canelo aint stopping Rhodes.
