Marg pressure mixed with volume punching would not be good for Winky.

The only thing that makes me favor Winky in this matter. Is that it will be at 154. And, Marg was better at 147 than 154. At 154 he really didn't have the advantage of size and strength.

Just cuz' of that I will lean towards Winky, in a very close maybe split decision victory. But, it would have been a fight that Marg could have won as well.

excellent points...something about Margs at 54...i dont see him as imposing as he was at 47..especially against someone who looked real comfortable at that weight like Winky was

I see where people say a high workrate beats Wright. Winky's still hard to hit clean and tough at that. He'd be able to land his right jab all day, and he'd outmuscle Marg on the inside, and work the body like Mosley did too. Wide UD. Paul Williams beat Marg on activity with light punching, Winky can too,

but Paul Williams' volume, like Soliman posed problems for Winky...granted he was very faded when he faced Williams, he wasn't as faded for Soliman...and i know Soliman throws from all over the place and is very unorthodox but the volume was still a factor

it's when people try to tee off on Winky that his style becomes more troublesome...guys like Tito and Vargas were too busy tryin to find holes in that unbelievable defense that cost them rounds...when Winky has to maneuver away from volume, that's when the openings come up

id go with winky. ppl use the soliman fight and winky did get hit, but the fight really wasnt close. winky clearly won he landed the better shots and his defense was on point for the most part.

the difference in these two fights is 1. margarito is smaller than wiinky, or at least he has constantly fought at a smaller weight class. furthermore, the way solimon threw punches and the way he fought was totally different that how margs fights. margs comes in the straight line with looping, obvious punches. solimon was a type of fighter that moved a lot when on offense and his punches came at numerous angles. these are big differences that make this fight for winky.

if margs cant get winky outta there, he loses. theres no way he wins a decision in that fight, imo.

Winky's strength and toughness among other qualities and his boxing ability (jab, timing, defense, and accuracy, esp.), would get him a clear cut decision. This coming from someone, who thinks Margarito would give Mayweather hell.

Take away Margarito's strength advantage, ability to land and overwhelm his opponent with punches and, he's in a rough spot. Winky just has the "right" advantages for Margarito.

I'd favor Winky, but only slightly. I'd picture him winning in a 8-4 or 7-5 type decision. They both lost to Paul Williams, but Margarito gave Williams much more problems. I think a taller fighter like Margarito can give Winky problems from the outside. Thing is, would Margarito box from the outside?

Styles make fights Winky's style is tailor made to beat Margarito

Winky was a master at being able to make guys fight off their back foot. I think it would be a great fight but Winky clearly wins unless he gets one worst decisions ever like he did against Vargas.

Mosley was too strong for Margarito. Mosley was too weak for Winky. Margarito runs into millions of jabs, gets inside... and roughed up. Oops! He can't win. Winky will hold him for as long as he wants, push him backwards in a clinch as far as he wants to, and push him around to keep him off whenever he wants. Margarito takes a Trinidad like beating but looks even more hopeless cause he actually gets to do what he can do and have that get stuffed too.

Margarito was not good at 154. He lost to Daniel Santos twice at 154, and that was the best guy he fought, and Santos isn't even that good to begin with. Winky beat guys like prime Mosley twice, draw with a prime Jermain Taylor at 160, close fight with Hopkins at 170, close fight with a prime Vargas who some say should've gone to Winky, beat a past prime but still tough Quartey.

Margarito was nowhere near Winky's level. Let's not get Winky confused with Clottey who barely throws punches and uses the ear muff style of fighting. Winky was a very busy fighter back in the day and I just don't see how Margarito at 154 would be a competitive opponent for Winky. Maybe at 147 against a weight drained Winky Wright he'd do good.

the first fight was at 147 and was a NC that ended in the first round. the second fight margarito should have won. i had it 6-3 or maybe 5-4 margarito at the closest but santos got the decision.
