You're joking with this right? The kid has some skill, but his fighting style is EXACTLY what the PAYING audience does NOT want to see. Why would HBO put a boring fighter who won a controversial decision on a slot again?

Because Al Haymon has his hand far up Greenburg's ass

I think it's debatable that he has done enough to warrant an HBO slot considering guys like Vazquez and Rigondeaux have yet to make their HBO debut and both are champs.

Wasn't really my debate before, but the beef with Arum is not that he is matching his fighters with bums, but he's not putting them in the best fights possible. Look at Lopez against Salido. Everyone was saying they should match him with Gamboa already and Arum killed that super fight.

He has placed Soto on countless undercards instead of facing him with Brandon Rios. Rios has taken on solid competition, but Soto's competition at 135 has been pretty terrible outside a great fight versus Antillion.

Before Montiel, Donaire was getting the same criticism for not stepping up either.
but for the most part all of this was done out of view of my HBO programming and short of Lopez on Showtime was done with any major cable TV correct?

by contrast we get to, whether we are willing or not, watch careers such as Andre Berto, Adrien Broner, and now Rico Ramos grow on the biggest level possible

that to me is the rub

but his run to a title and subsequent fights were on HBO when they really shouldn't have been. Brian Minto?

yes it because if we are still saying "let's see what the kid has got" then he is seemingly an unproven fighter getting a coveted HBO date because of his associations. I mean did you think the Valdez fight warranted him being moved to HBO next?

no he is not cmon now you're a good poster you should know better

Broner had his shot, looked like a fool, almost lost to an undersized warrior, and acted like he just beat Manny

now he gets yet another HBO slot without really deserving it

and for people who say Berto is an extreme couldn't we counter that if you say that then PWill is the exact opposition and the pro Haymon supporters using him shouldn't?

Mayweather I don't consider into the equation because he is on a different plane than everyone else short of Manny
lol, i hate breaking up posts the way u do. but im in no way saying arreola should have gotten to the title so easily. but with that said, to me, theres nothing thats so amazing about it. heavyweight was/is very weak. and other promoters have done similar things at much stronger weight classes. thats my point.

i dunno what ppl had against jermaine taylor, i wasnt a fan of his/ i was a winky fan but with that said, he was a legit champion. the hopkins fights were close, i gave them to hopkins but taylor did enough to prove himself. i guess i would need to to explain to me what was wrong with him. was his path to the title too easy u think?

the ramos thing, again i dunno what to say about it. maybe he would be better served on BAD. but is it really that bad? i dont think so.

and yes i stick up for broner somewhat. thought he lost the fight but he lost it because his actions and nothing de leon did. i just try to balance out the hate directed at him on here im proly one of the few ppl who woldnt mind seeing the kid again. we'll see what happens with litazu, its not a bad fight at all imo and litzau does deserve the fight, so in a way, u can look at it as more of a showcase for him if it makes more sense that way, rite?

and u totally could say that about the berto/Williams comparison but with that said it enforces my point that that happening was just as much due to hbo as it was haymon.

i totally admit im being biased about this. but the fight that they gave him isnt at all bad. litzau, fresh off of his victory of caballero, could totally make broner disappear once and for all.

i just kinda wanna see what the kid can do, see if he did improve and i kno it can be argued that that doesnt need to be televised on hbo. but hey, litzau dors kinda deserve the slot, so think of it that way.

Why do some people always latch on to the Mayweather-Spadafora thing? Kim never said it was signed, or on the brink of being signed, simply that it was being discussed.

I've never heard anything to the contrary from anyone that discussions were never had. His source said they were.

Some people here equate "Steve Kim's source says Mayweather's camp is in discussions for a possible fight with Spadafora's camp" to "ZOMG Steve Kim is TR ****rider Liar. HE Said May-Spad was signed, sealed, delivered. What a fuckin' piece of shit"...

i dunno...to me, the mayweather camp always seem to do this. no fault with kim reporting it, but i think hes reported it a few times. either way, the camp does this on purpose im almost certain.

Valid point. We haven't heard any reports of these guys trying to be on HBO though. Arum hasn't gone on a rant saying that HBO turned these guys down like he normally does. Haymon tried with Ramos and was successful.

That's true. As long as HBO doesn't **** up by overpaying and matching them too soft, I won't mind. That's a hard task, but we'll see.

Don't you think it's very possible that discussions did take place? I don't doubt it.
