Andy Ganigan The Original Hawaiin punch better then pacman.

I was reading pedro hernandez article and he talked of andy ganigan who he said was filipino, I had no idea about this and always though he was mexican or hawaiin. But I watched ganigan fight when I was a young boy cause my dad had a tape of him fighting sean o grady and alexis arguello and this guy had more devastating power then pacquiao and he campaigned at a higher weight class 135 all this career.

I was just wondering has anyone ever seen this legendary fighter before? The way he dismantled the over hyped sean o grady was funny to watch knocking him down many times and ending the fight in round two.

I agee with pedro this guy is 10 times better then manny with more power in his punch, if he fought today he would fight in the mix against castillo and corrales he might even win.

Ganigan WAS NOT better than Pacquiao, not even close.

He fought in one weight class...& all he had was a big-time punch. He had a questionable chin, which was very reachable.

He couldn't beat the over-hyped Gato Gonzalez.....& was KO'd badly by Jimmy Paul.

He was tenacious, brave, & was a very huge puncher.

But, Pedro is trying to be cool by saying he was better than Pacquiao.

I SAW the Gonzalez fight....but it was before I had a VCR (it was in '81)

It was a close fight......I believe both hit the deck.
Gonzalez was supposed to be the next big thing...but busted when he lost to Claude Noel, right after he fought Ganigan.

Ganigan was no more skilled than Pacquiao....& was equally, if not more, left-hand crazy.
He did not have Pac's speed, either.

Gato Gonzales was the real deal, a dangerous fighter that mighty Duran looks to have avoided. You should seriously check out his record, 81-7-1, 70 KOs. His main problems were promotional, that is getting big fights. I would pick Duran over him, but he was known as an El Gancho specialist, tough as nails, and a no excuses always in shape ready to fight warrior in the class of De Jesus. He won the WBC belt the year Duran beat Buchanan and was 6 yrs older than young Duran and a bit of a legend. In his last fights he ended up in Japan losing his belt to Guts Ishimatsu in some brawls, but had he met Duran in 73 he might've had enough in the tank to whup him like de Jesus did.

YOU ARE REFERRING TO THE WRONG GATO GONZALEZ !

I'm talking about the early 80's PROSPECT.......not the very accomplished one from the 70's
            Check it.

When it comes to boxing, & everyone on here konws this...I am OBJECTIVE.

Manny Pacquiao....is not a highly-skilled fighter. But, he is a FAR BETTER fighter than Andy Ganigan ever was.

Am I not backing my argument enough ?

Ever think...I argue with you because you say alot of things that I just happen to disagree with, egomaniac ?

as for Pedro Fernandez....he talks out of his ass A LOT !

                  Hectari...

                  Look at this thread.
The poster "KidBlackie" posted a story about a completely different Gato Gonzalez than the one I referred to. I was referring to the one who fought Ganigan, not the 70's guy.

Now, tell me, was I being argumentative for correcting him ?

                    Anyway....

You are what, 21 years old ? When did you see Ganigan fight ?

I saw him fight, & saw him fight when he was active.
