As for Robinson not KO'ing Hatton in 2, I guarantee that if ANY opponent rushed at me...even ME, never mind Robinson, with his hands rahter down and his chin up and exposed, like Hatton did, he would take the count. In fact i HAVE done it once or twice. One rarely gets, such an easy opportunity in a serious fight.

Another point about Robinson and that fact that some ordinary fighters went the distance with him. Robinson, on TV as I recall, was reminiscing with Rocky Graziano and Jake LaMotta, and another I can't remember, and the conversation got around to corruption, and "carrying" opponents.

One of Robinson's comments was that "I often used to have to fight 20 rds, ten for my oponent and 10 for me...." and this was heartily echoed by his companions who ALL said that they had to "carry" opponents many times. Don't forget, boxing was ruled by the Mafia and BIG ******** in those "palmy" days...........
So i wouldn't put too much store in anyone goig the distance with Robinson. I'm pretty sure, that he could pick the round, and almost the position in the ring, where he could stretch out an opponent.

IM talking LWW, the weight floyd was too scared to come down to. Floyd did it with Referee protection and home advantage as well.

Pac is also special as he coming from philipines had the courage to fight in America where hes a minority yet still make a name for himself.

Sorry to tell you that you are wrong, and not only in the matter I mention. Robinson lost his first fight somewhere around 40-42 nd fight. Of course it was against Jake la Motta who was a middleweight, and later famous champion, whilst Robinson was not only very young, but a lightish welterweight. They fought again about 4-5 times and Robinson won each time. he lost his NEXT fight against Randolph Turpin, after allowing himself to get out of condition, (according to all the newspapers and other reports) during a length and leisurely tour through Europe where he was treated like Royalty.

That made his record something like 132-2. I'm going purely on memory and could be a little out.

Of course, by then he was past his best, but his most famous fights were yet to come.

Not knocked out cold because when he went down Cortez waved it off and made Hatton stay down until he checked him out. Hatton was sitting up right not long after that. That being said though it doesn't take anything away from the ass whoopin and stoppage he put on Hatton.
