There are casual fans, hardcore fans, and everything else inbetween.

From what I gather, the majority of NSB are 'everything in between'.

The kind of people who watch most fights that are known names to the boxing community I.e A casual fan wouldn't watch Berto-Ortiz and probably would know very little about them.

But they also don't know anything about Moreno, Agbeko or Mares and are unaware of who Wonjongkam is.

Whereas for Hardcore fans, boxing effects my lifestyle. If I am out with friends or at an important meeting, I have to make sure I am back for Saturday Night Fights (A low budget fight card in the UK every saturday that has mainly mid card fighters on the main event) And if fights such as Agbeko-Mares gets canceled I am genuinely depressed.

Another example is last year Pacqiauo-Clottey was on the same day as my Girlfriends Birthday. I expected the fight to be an absolute snoozer like it was yet I still chose to watch the fight over seeing her.

That's how I would describe a 'Hardcore fan'.

A casual fan is someone who started watching boxing in 2007-2008 and only knows about Pacqiauo and Mayweather and believes Mike Tyson is the greatest HW champion of all time. And genuinely just knows the basics of the sport and only watch the big fights like Pacqiauo.... or Mayweather...

Good thing she's not reading this post. lol

To me, casual fans are people that simply enjoy watching boxing matches; but the bouts must be between big names, wildly exciting, or both. As pointed out, hard-core fans are on the other end of the spectrum.

I'm somewhere in the middle. I've watched countless fights over the years, both live and on TV. I'll watch almost any boxing match, as long as there isn't anything better to do. I've read innumerable boxing articles and several books on fighters and fighting. I've done some training and sparring, as well. I can talk at length about many fighters of the past and present. I'm not a hard-core fan, nor do I want to be. There are some people here that can school me on various aspects of boxing. But there are many more that I can hold my own with. I think I qualify as a "real" fan.

Oh, she knew I openly told her. She knew and still knows that boxing comes first

If that's the case I would consider you at the higher end of the 'in the middle' line.

A 'real' fan is almost anyone who enjoys watching boxing, to me. Casual fans are 'real' fans, they just casually watch.

Casual fans just tend to frustrate the more hardcore fans as they normally know very little about the sport and say ****** things.

"Casual fans are 'real' fans, they just casually watch." lmao!

I understand what you mean, but that's a funny-ass way of saying it!

What about the Paclanders who watch EVERY fight there is on livestream , but only to diss the fighters; like being excited for Agbeko-Mares just so they can see how quickly Donaire would make work of them or Martinez-Dzinziruk only to see flaws of Maravilla they can exploit for their Manny is the GOAT arguments?

Atleast you understand what I'm trying to say.

This just shows how hard difficult to define and vague the term 'real' boxing fan is

But you see what I'm saying.

Why must we define it? It's what we all used to be. Think back a few years.
