I'd say Hatton had a pretty weak chin as I saw him get staggered several times. Williams has a beast chin, he just got caught with a tremendous punch at the right time; same thing with Montiel. Kirkland has a pretty weak chin IMO.Comment

Williams has a proven great chin. One fight doesn't change that. Kirkland has a very questionable chin, Hatton had a decent chin, Montiel has a good chin.Comment

lol.. that's beside the point.. you think all the big names were jumping at the chance to fight prescott after he ko'd a weight-drained khan (and had a 90% ko ratio at the time)?
everyone knows by now the main reason khan got ko'd was because he was real weak at 135 and his new (one-fight only) trainer told him to attack prescott and not try to outbox him.. what a great gameplan against a knockout artist.. a stroke of genius!
if he had such a bad chin he would have been ko'd by maidana when he landed some bombs but he didnt even hit the canvas, maidana did.
I think it's fair to say that Khan's chin is still a question mark. Not to the degree that it was before the Maidana fight, in which he took some very good shots and remained on his feet, but I still want to see what happens when he gets caught by a fast, sharp puncher with a shot he doesn't see coming.
Having said that, I do however think Freddie and especially Ariza have done all the right things in guiding Amir back from his KO defeat. Freddie has improved his defence and helped limit his tendency towards recklessness, while Ariza got him into phenomenal shape and redistributed muscle from his upper body to his legs, both of which I think were crucial in enabling him to better take a punch.Comment

Hatton actually had a good chin for most of his career. You don't fight the way he did, or walk through flush Tszyu right hands, unless you can take a punch. Towards the end of his career, his punch resistance did seem to wane considerably though, possibly the result of gaining and losing large amounts of weight between fights.Comment

just heard a boxing show called guard your grill and one of the hosts still saying amir khan has "no chin.."
seeing as paul williams, james kirkland, ricky hatton and fernando montiel all been knocked out in the early rounds and been on the canvas before.. i suppose they all have no chin?
Amir Khan has been knocked down 5 times, by Willie Limond once, Michael Gomez once, Rachid Drizlane once, and Breidis Presscott twice.
None of the guys you mentioned were knocked down by as wack fighters as Khan has been knocked down by. Hatton was knocked out by Mayweather and Pacquiao, Williams has been knocked out by Sergio Martinez, Fernando Montiel was knocked out by Nonito Donaire, all of those fighters were/are top 10 P4P fighters and were/are the best in their division. Kirkland was the only one there who was knocked out by a no name.
None of the fighters that knocked Khan down were top P4P fighters or one of the best fighters in their division.
Martinez: #3 P4P, Middleweight King
Pacquiao: #1 P4P, #2 Welterweight
Mayweather: #2 P4P, #1 Welterweight
Donaire: #4 P4P, #1 BantamweightComment
