Hey whats up guys. I been boxing for a few months, and I am about to get my first amatuer fight here in the near future. My coach said I can get 5 fights in before I leave, how can I stay in shape for 9 months while I am over there? I love boxing and it has given me something to enjoy every day. I do not want to lose progress.
Going to Iraq soon

First off, thank you for your service. As far as staying in shape, all I can think of is the obvious stuff like shadow boxing and regular workouts that you can fit in (push ups, sit ups, whatever you have handy otherwise.) I know I have some family that were able to box a bit in the military during down time, but that was way back in the day. Im sure some other people on here will have much better advice for you. But good luck, and stay safe. -
this is prob the section you want ...

Going to Iraq is a huge deal. Not sure if staying in shape should be your main focus when you are over there. But since you're in the military, I'm sure you can find many ways to stay in good shape.
Anyways, good luck and stay safe my friend.

question..do you know why we are in iraq in the 1st place??why did we ever go over there???
anyway be safe and good luck on your boxing careerComment

1st. your an idiot for going to iraq, 2nd staying in shape only takes consitency and hard work, train hard, eat well, rest well, you'll be fit and healthy.
Now what on earth are the US still doing in Iraq? Why did they go there in the first place if the UN have proven 3+years ago now that there IS NO WMD's in Iraq, saddams long gone, your gonna help the US oppress innocent Middle Eastern appearance women and children, millions of afghanis and iraqi civillians have died at the hands of brutal aggressive excessive use of millitary powerComment

First of all you called me an idiot and you used the wrong form of "you're", then spelled consistency wrong in the same run on sentence. Second, I joined the service for an education, money, a career, and defending my country and I love every minute of it. We are still in Iraq, because we can't leave it in the shape it has been. Let's have some faith in the greatest nation to ever exist.Comment

Don't even bother with it man. If you have lurked around here for very long, you know its about 50% ******. No point in bringing logic to this discussion.First of all you called me an idiot and you used the wrong form of "you're", then spelled consistency wrong in the same run on sentence. Shouldnt be to hard to stay in shapeHey whats up guys. I been boxing for a few months, and I am about to get my first amatuer fight here in the near future. when i was in iraq i worked out just about every day. most bases have a make shift gym out of a tent. so you will have no problem staying in shape. just make sure to make time to work out.
the only problem for me when i was out there was since the gym that was out there was in a tent they did not have anywhere to hang a punching bag from.
so try to find someone else that is into boxing out there and has some experience so you guys can hold the mitts for each other
so make sure to take some mitts and some gloves with you or send for them when you are out there.
have fun!!Comment
