Call me crazy, but I think the ref stopping the fight was a good thing for JML

Let me start off by saying that, more than likely, I wont be talking mess about JuanMa anymore.... He didnt make me a fan yesterday, but I could see how people like him.... I still dont think he is an okay fighter, but nothing spectacular.... But I will say, I respect the dude now....

But as far as the fight, they have a built in excuse for his loss.....

Now they can say that it was stopped early, and the JML is a warrior and would have kept fighting had the fight not been stopped.....

They can also continue to sell him and a rematch by putting doubt in the heads of the public because he wasnt KO'ed and make them believe stoppage was early......

Not only that, but if he would have continued to take those shots for 2 or 3 more rounds, who is to say that he wouldnt have had a lot taken out of him? He could have been another David Reid or worst been KO'ed and been really hurt beyond just the ring.....

it was dissapointing he stopped it but the end was close for Juanma so but would have been exciting if he had let it go a bit more.

I think the thing that disappointed me the most was the we didnt getto see Gamboa take JML out.....

That was supposed to be Gamboa in there, and Arum stole a career defining fight from him....

I totally agree with you that the early stoppage benefits Juanma's future. I also believe that Juanma can beat Salido.

Nobody better talk crap about López now. He didn't take a knee, did he? According to most Mexicans' standards, that alone solidifies heart. He kept punching even at the stoppage.

One thing, though. López was ****** for attacking THAT recklessly. Even the furthest fans of boxing could tell that he was completely throwing defense out the window with that barrage of punches with his hands down. He has to fight smart. The moment I saw him get up from the knockdown and trying to exchange, I knew it was over. It was too early in the fight and it wasn't like he was going to pull a Mtagwa-style miracle again. That just doesn't happen unless you're Gatti or someone like that. All props to Salido for coming to Puerto Rico and snagging it from López's hands...

I was there live BTW...it was a good stoppage and I was rooting for Juanma. Although watching it on youtube...the way Juanma landed a punch RIGHT BEFORE being stopped makes the referee look bad. I can understand. On TV, it looks bad. But trust me, Juanma was on his way to being KO'D somewhere down the stretch, he wasn't going to hurt Salido.

Well, at least the ref stopped it. Its a good thing Juanma didnt get to lose on his knees. These boards wouldve gone crazy.

I dont think he fought recklessly, he was forced to fight like that because of the amount of pressure that Salido was putting on.....

Before the KO, he fought calm, collected, and boxed pretty decently.....

After the KO, he couldnt keep Salido off of him, and he was just putting everything he had into his punches out of desperation..... Thats not saying he didnt have a couple of good moments after the knockdown, but the amount of punches Salido was catching him with was just too much for JML....

And yeah, JML fought his ass off yesterday..... As much as I would like to talk **** about a Mexican beating a PR, I cant because JML TRIED to win, fight back, and didnt go Cotto or Calderon in the ring.....

Well to be honest , he put himself in that position. He could have stayed away from the brawl.

Juanma was wining the fight. But he got careless. Not the first time , and wont be the last.
