Did Berto gain more in this loss?

Respect to Berto, I don't think this fight hurt his stock. He showed a lot of heart in that fight; and I think Berto would win the rematch.

*Did Berto think Ortiz was going to quit? I got the notion from reading his interviews before this fight that, in the back of his mind Ortiz would quit.

No he didnt because he already showed heart against Collazo and when he got dropped against Rivera. He for the first time stepped up to b+ opposition since Luis and lost so this didnt do anything to help his career at all and imo his heart in the ring wasnt in question to begin with.

Gain more compared to what? Winning against Ortiz?

Actually I finally give Berto some respect for being in a fight. Everybody else he fought were bums. This was FOTY for sure, and I'm waiting anxiously for the rematch.

Collazo, Quintana, Forbes and Urango are not "bums".

I love how this term just gets thrown around so loosely here.

i dont think so...respect from some people in taking this fight and trying to do what he could? yeah maybe. it's a hard lesson learned for him, but losing always hurts your stock imo, even you put up a hell of a good fight.

Some but honestly aside from the 6th round and the knockdown in the 2nd the fight was all Ortiz. Berto was completely out of his element.

I don't think so...this was Berto's first true test and he failed.
