  • It's all about the match ups and excitement. Let's face it, we like to see wars and slug fest. Enough with the undefeated records. Who cares? Match them tough and give the fans what they want.

seriously, how can anyone be a fan of a fighter who does the opposite of

        fight?

thank GOD, and i honestly said a prayer for Ortiz tonight and for the boxing

world that God be just and fair so that we true fans dont have to watch

        berto ever again....

who can enjoy watching that guy hold alllllllllllllllllllllllll night long

should have lost a point every other round, the ref was sooooo biased and

bought he never even issued a warning
I am not a big fan of Berto. I've gone to 2 of his fights in South Florida, and they were both hug fest. But, this fight with Ortiz and the one with Collazo were very fun to watch. Maybe Berto should only fight lefties.

Big props to Maidana Morales Salado juanma Ortiz Berto and everyone else in these fights. This is what boxing fans want not 39yr old Mosley vs PAC not Floyd fighting a lightweight. Williams Martinez started this trend and I hope people pay attention.
Agreed. After the down year boxing had last year HBO is really stepping it's game up this year with tight competitive matchups. If this keeps up boxing may actually get some attention from mainstream media

Next.. the crowd cheered "FIGHT MANNY, FIGHT MANNY"

Watch how many people in that same crowd will buy Floyd's next fight cause like it or lump it dude is the truth. Would he have beaten Leonard or Hearns? Hell no but he is todays sweet science until somebody proves different.

Anybody who didn't appreciate BOTH fighters performances seem to have more dislike for Berto than they do appreciation of a good fight. This fight was better than Manny vs Cott, Clottey, or Margarito. This fight was better than Mayweather vs his last 10 fights. You may not like Berto's style, but it was effective enough to put Ortiz on his ass twice tonight. Neither fight ran. They stayed there and traded. THATS what puts asses in seats. A rematch is definately due. I put this fight in the same category as Martinez vs Williams I. There HAS to be a rematch. Ortiz doesn't need to jump in with a big welterweight just yet. I'd like to see him give Berto an opportunity to fight for the title he lost being as though he didnt work his way up the rankings to get a title. Some of you all need to not personalize this stuff so much

              • Berto, and I like him, can be soft sometimes. When the going gets rough, he holds on for dear life like huggy bear and turns his back, then complains that he's getting hit on the back of the head? C'mon son.

I agree with some of your statements. But I don't think it was better than Martinez vs Williams 1 or Cotto vs Manny. Berto had, like, 2 moments in the whole fight. Ortiz pretty much dominated, although there always that risk of a haymaker by Berto.

that is because collazo and ortiz were trying to fight even throu the hugging

                      and holding...

berto is horrible, i have been saying it for years..

the dude has tremendous quickness and buzz but does not have the ability to

fight in combinations, no footwork, no ring iq, and his worst problem is that

he is not coordinated...the reason why he is flailing all over the place during

                      exchanges..

please no rematch, the only place i ever expect to see berto again is friday

night fights for his next and last fight...
