No, just no. Juan never had the power that Bam Bam has and was never really able to impose his will on opponents. He had a nice run but due to his lack of power I never considered him to be a very good fighter. Brandon on the other hand has a real future ahead of himself. Although he has limitations Brandon has the will and the power to make any opponent crumble. He will be a force for a long time. Juan on the other hand had a very short run because the only thing he truly had working for him was the amount of punches he could throw. Once the punch speed slowed down so did his career.

How can you guys sit here and act like Juan was just a bum?

If I recall right, ju was one of the youngest champs EVER, was a non-stop pressure fighter who literally threw OVER A THOUSAND PUNCHES PER FIGHT, and was next in line to fight Pacquiao, but people just sit here and dawg on him.....

A lot of fighters had too many wars and lost fights at the end of their careers.... Juan is no different....

He was never a bum but his punch resistance is not what it was and he doesnt have the power to keep Rios off him. I see a brutal beating for Juan before Rios puts him away.

Who was better than he was, in his weight class, in his prime?

No one.... If I'm not mistaking (maybe I'm wrong), at one point he was the unified and Ring champ at his weight class.....

See, I can agree with this, but to say Juan was never a "good" or even "elite" is just blasphemy.....

I think prime for prime, Juan wins and Bam Bam still has a ways to go to have as good a career as Juan did.....

I'm curious to see what baby bull does. They say hes a free agent,I wonder
if he signs with top rank just to get a bam bam fight.I also think a
diaz-soto fight would be good to.But soto is not with top rank no more.

At the time I guess he was the best but I still didn't consider him elite. There are some exceptions to the rule but imo I feel that a fighter has to have a decent amount of pop in his gloves to have a long lasting career. Sure, Juan scored some knockouts but the knockouts came simply from punches in bunches, not from raw power. I knew his career was going to be very short in the sport, not to mention his defense had leaks and his come forward style and pretty much just throwing everything without being ready to defend kind of style was just more writing on the wall.

Those are the major differences I see in Rios and Diaz. Rios has shaky defense compared to Diaz but he has the pop to make his opponent really respect him. Once Juan lost that speed and couldn't throw his 100 punches a round the opponent wasn't pushed into a corner where he would just be stopped. He could then walk through Juans punches and give him trouble. In Rios's case it is raw power, power that truly hurts. An opponent must always respect Rios's punch and that will take him very far.

rios has too much guts for diaz...and a little too much power also...i like diaz but he got out boxed and rocked by paulie...i think its competative in the early rounds...but rios wins by ko in the late rounds...imo of course...

Agreed. I ike Juan, he's a good kid, and one helluva fighter, his only downfall, is not having the pop needed to sustain himself with top tier fighters. He gave JMM hell mind you, if he had the pop needed, I would say he beats BamBam, but since he doesnt I cant say he beats Bam. Juan is done with school however so we very well may see a different/renewed version of him in there with Brandon. I wont be betting on this fight. I like both of them waaaayyyyyy too much.
