Reading the post in this thread proves walt thread about how people view black fighters.

I don't think Black or White or green or Yellow has anything to o with it..People are inspired by people doing great things..Pwilly is mostly respected from what I gather from this site and in the street with knowledgeable boxing fans..Shane as well,B-Hop makes himself an underdog..But in fact is highly regarded by any true boxing fan..May although may not be liked he is respected..Berto has not/is still not testing himself really and he is not a prospect at all..May change the game a bit and now Berto is trying to follow in his foot steps..The big problem is May earned the right to be an azzhole Berto did'int...

Another thing, Berto is a different animal when he's not facing southpaws. Just wanted to point that out, he's been constantly fighting southpaws.

You know you have a point there. His last 3 opponents (who are coincidentally probably his best wins) were southpaws.

Seems like conventional vs southpaw has a higher chance of yielding an ugly, headbutting, arms-tangled, hugfest than a sp vs sp or conv vs conv...

On the other hand, it also seems to me that he does tend to leap in too close and smother himself regardless of the stance of his opponent.

Berto is not UNDERRATED nor is he OVERRATED...he is just OVERPAID by HBO and that is why he gets a lot of HATE, not only but that but not rematching Collazo also may have turn some people away

If he wins tonight, he still won't win any fans or get any credit for beating Ortiz, but it would give him a better chance at getting BIGGER FIGHTS, If he lose then of course you will see the same POST as usual "BERTO IS OVERRATED, OVERHYPED, ANOTHER AMERICAN FIGHTER EXPOSED" blah blah blah

Berto has THE SKILLS offensive and the Speed, if he BOX and use that QUICK JAB, he beats Ortiz EASY, if he comes out trying to SLUG IT OUT like he did against Collazo, then he Loses

I have nothing against Ortiz or Berto, may the best fighter WIN and if it ends up being a great fight then that will be great for BOTH FIGHTERS regardless of who wins

Berto has ability but very little boxing skills, and hasn't had any real notable wins while taking on mostly smaller guys and soft opposition.....he is in no way underrated.

No people don't like him because he never fights anybody of merit..He pulled out of a Mosley fight cool,but then prices himself out when they tried to make the fight happen again..He get's called a Puzzy and a B$tch by Cintron and turns around and fights Ortiz(who was clearly beat by Peterson imo)he just does not make your blood pump and acts as if he is this vet but his resume makes me think he is still a prospect..I really believe that's why so many don't like him lack of opposition..

Asking for 50/50 to Mosley was an azzhole move and prevented himself from a great challenge and us a great fight..I don't care what HBO pay's Berto(he don't pay my rent)but I do care who he fights,esp as a belt holder and top WW..
