Exactly right, Don King was great for the boxing fans. All of Don King PPV cards were stacked from top to bottom. You could have an event that had JCC, Lopez, Tyson all in the same card or Trinidad, Norris, Brown, Blocker all in the same card. It was just crazy. I miss Don King. But, he was just bad for the fighters.

While Arum can be good for the fighters he's bad for the fans. Hell he has even said so, he pretty much said Fuck the hardcore fans.

at all levels of the game
everywhere and with every promotor.


some of it is to sell extra tickets, and it's underhandedness from the promotors
but fights get cancelled all the time for reasons ranging from the flu, money issues, commission / red tape issues, all the way to cowardess / not wanting to become a part of somebody's highlight reel

Oh I know man! I totally understand but it just seems to happen with Top Rank a little too often. We here about these stacked cards and they never come. GBP's might've put on an unworthy PPV last weekend but the card delivered. I'm not saying I want more PPV's because I really think they need to go. The thing is if I am going to buy a PPV and I'm going to invite people to watch the fights then we need more than the Main Event. I hate inviting people over and they sit there bored all night. Not everyone is an actual boxing fan and they don't appreciate most of it. I love every aspect of the game but I don't speak for most people. I have one friend who actually follows the sport. So for me to have a fight like Soto - Antillon was a really good fight. It was entertaining.

To accuse ANY promoter of being even "nearly as bad" as Don King should be actionable, in my opinion. Let alone 10 times as bad. Does that mean he has to commit 15-20 murders as well?

A properly run promotion business (like Top Rank) normally not only advertises the main event, but the whole supporting programme. Occasionally there is a T.B.A., for a minor fighter, but the main guys, the real attractions are already signed, sealed and, presumably, ready to go.

If and when they don't, this is rarely if ever, the fault of the promoter, it has to do with the fighter, injury, money, manager problems, sickness in the family, Earthquakes in Haiti, and many other things I don't want to be bothered thinking about. I don't even want to be thinking about this, but you seem to need some setting straight.

It is nearly always the fault of others, NOT the promoters, unless they suddenly go bankrupt. These are matters BEYOND their control. To blame them is unfair,'

Well this was the fault of the promoter. Don't announce a fight until it's official. Plain and simple.
