He was talking about the first Morales vs. Barrera fight.

$300k in 2000 is worth about $390k today so it's not that big of a difference. And back then Morales and Barrera weren't the biggest draw's in those divisions. The Prince was making millions because of all the big UK/HBO and international TV money that was coming in from the middle east.

Plus nobody is saying they should be paid $400k. They should make career high purses for such a good fight but Arum is pricing Juanma out, I haven't heard Gamboa say anything about how much he should make.

Juanma irked many of his fans, including me, because of his *****footing with Caballero.

Aside from that, he seems to have developed some "divaness" and that has further alienated some fans.

He is also not a dominant fighter like Tito was at WW, so people are still tentative to get on the bandwagon... His fight with Mtagwa (though hardcore fans know the weight affected him) really added some negative splash to his image.

gamboa's promoter said the budget hbo is offering isn't enough for both gamboa and juanma.

Here's what probably happened in the back office:

HBO: Bob, why did you tell everyone that you needed 3M$ from us to make the fight? We WANT the freakin' fight!!! Here's 3.5M$, let's just do it already!
Bob: Nah bro, I just want to save my face right now, everyone is hating me, I needed to say some looking real shiet that them dumb fans will believe. The most dumb ones amongst them will probably bring the fact that I'm from Harvard and I know the market well so I will be justified to NOT make the fight.
HBO: But c'mon Bob, don't blame it on us then. We're going to tell the world that you're lying and that we want the fight!
Bob: You do that and we go Showtime.
haha so tru bring that heat acere

This is going to be awesome. I'm going to see Juanma, buttload of other PR boxing legends, Bob Arum, and Gamboa in the flesh. Awesom!
