Comments Thread For: Morales-Maidana Draws Huge Rating, Beats Canelo-Hatton

According to reliable industry sources, last Saturday's junior welterweight bout between Erik Morales and Marcos Maidana drew a huge rating in Mexico. Morales lost a twelve round majority decision to Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It's being said that Morales-Maidana generated a ratings figure of 25 points, which is a little higher than the huge rating generated by Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's title winning effort over Matthew Hatton in March. Based on the high number, more than half the homes in Mexico were watching Morales go for a fourth world championship.

25 points would be 25% of homes, not half
    around 30 million viewers

You have to hand it to Maidana: massively overrated but he's been in some of the most entertaining fights in the past few years.

it pretty obvious it would draw more than canelo hatton. that fight was a set up and a joke. no real boxing fan gave hatton a chance in hell. morales is a tested warrior and so is maidana so its bound to draw the ratings.

It deserved to. That whole card was just excellent from top to bottom, minus the main event... which then proved to be the best fight of the night!

Morales is a PPV attraction. Maidana is a car accident. You donīt really wanna look at him but you keep on looking at the mess.
