The fight that really left a sour note was when he fought Urango. He held all night if I'm not mistaken.

Simple solution, just get Joe Cortez to ref it then... the man hardly even lets the fighters fight inside before he's breaking them up. Then again, he'll warn for holding a thousand times but never do anything about it - and then break up the action when they're actually doing some inside work. I cringe everytime I see that mans name as the "third party" in the ring. Steve Smoger is pretty good though.

I think it's smart to voice your concerns to the ref before the fight (although not neccessarily through the media), however it seems pretty dumb to put it out there that you're gonna fight dirty if things don't go your way....

i like smoger,he better not allow all that holding,to me a good way to keep a guy from holding is immediately start hitting him to the body when he starts to hold,it's legal, thats what segura did to calderon in the first fight and calderon started hugging less because he would get hit everytime...do that and let the ref do the rest which i think he will, smoger likes to let them fight

          Yes he did.

And the incompetent referee let him get away with it.

berto does hold alot, but i think ortiz should worry more about the fight all around.

Holding as much as Berto does reduces a fighter's punch volume, because they have to apply resistance strength in their arms to get out of the hold while Berto uses his upper body weight and legs to apply that pressure. Berto knows this, because he has an MMA background in his family it's sort of like a stand up Jiu Jitzu type thing.

hahahahaha, finally, ones of his own peers in the game has address it, one of the main ingredients in Berto's Arsenal, CLINCHING, yes thats right, MR. Clinch, 8 to 10 times per round on Average..lol...yah berto's a beast alright, hahaha, lets name some real beasty boxer -punchers 1. paquiao- nope, no clinching here 2. Mosley- only bombs, clinching is for girls 3. margarito- no clinching 4. The guy on the right in your signature does his share of holding too.

i think that has a lot to do as to why he doesn't have many fans, when he fought in florida once i think under one thousand showed up,pretty bad,his style won't help at all with all that hugging/holding

Victor Ortiz will be the WBC Welterweight champion on Saturday night. Berto should hang on for dear life.
