WBC President Jose Sulaiman says the first defense of the newly crowned featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (48-7, 42KOs) will likely come against Guty Espadas Jr (45-8, 28KOs) in the month of June in Campache, Mexico. Gonzalez won the title last Friday when he traveled to Kobe, Japan to stop Hozumi Hasegawa in the fourth round. Espadas has not fought since last February's twelve round decision loss to then featherweight champion Elio Rojas.

last time espadas fought he took rojas the distance,kind of surprising,but it will be 16 months since his last fight,thats too long,but hey,if others champs like juanma can take on a guy with almost a dozen losses and who just got dominated in his last fight and will follow that against a guy he already beat don't see why gonzalez cant take an easy fight after going to japan and beating the champ over there.
