    According to promoter Lou DiBella, there are ongoing to discussions for a summer/fall bout between Peter Manfredo Jr. (37-6, 20KOs) and undefeated WBO middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (18-0, 14KOs). DiBella is talking with Pirog's promoter Artie Pelullo of Banner Promotions. Most of Manfredo's big defeats have taken place at the super middleweight limit or in the first season of The Contender reality show. Manfredo has won six bout since the 2007 knockout loss to Sakio Bika. Pirog is looking for a recognizable name to make his ring return in the United States.

              dibella is a genius. he wants to make sure pirog has a fight scheduled so he can match martinez with another soft touch and no one will say he ducked pirog again.

                  Actually I think he's trying to build a future Martines-Pirig clash, what better way is there to introduce/build Pirog's name to the American's than for him to beat Manfredo.

                  If he can beat Manfredo, he'll move closer to Martinez, if not

                          People are wrong,this can be a very good fight;pirog shoul be the victory of course but manfredo can give good moments to the champ;i'm sure about it!!!

                                  Or he is trying to appropriately build momentum for a Martinez showdown with Pirog so people are actually interested in it.
