    Kirk should have been given the chance. But those kind of stoppages are common in boxing, they are even worse overseas.

        There is no three knockdown rule, but there is the referee's discretion.

        Besides, if there was a fourth knockdown and Kirkland was put in a coma, Cortez would be facing far worse criticism.
