Even though he may well carry on fighting, for some reason it felt to me like I was saying "goodbye" to Erik last night.
Which is why I had no problem buying the fight.

I feel sorry for those that didn't.

A lot I could write - from being just a teenager and seeing almost his whole career, the road trips to see him fight, the arguments with the homies over who is the best of 3, the wins, the loses, the laughs(Erik always makes me laugh for some reason), ever dollar spent on a ppv or a ticket, and the nights spent watching him fight with my dad. a **** load of memories i just went thru during those 12rds. holy **** what a performance - it just made all those moments 10x better. and he didnt even win lol
He put his heart out there, after one i felt doom but erik did not he fought his fcking heart out and beat Maidana aq draw i could understand even a 1 -2 point edge but 116-113 do not insult the fans like that.

I definitely didn't expect Morales to come to fight like he did last night. He came willing to die in that ring with Maidana...but he wasn't going down alone. Amazing effort. He changed a lot of minds including my own. At first I didn't want to see a boxing legend disgraced. But now I can't wait to see what he can do against some of the other guys at 140.

I realize this fight doesn't have anything to do with Barrera, but I've always liked Morales much more than Barrera. Barrera, achievements aside, has always come off as an arrogant jerk. I'm glad Morales turned in what seems to be a terrific performance given the perception of the fight prior to it beginning.

I can't wait to see it!

                  Where's Barrera now? Pssh.

                  Morales>Barrera

BTW, we should all be glad about Erik's performance, but let's not get carried away with saying that he can hang with the guys at 14o. Maidana's lack of any technique and crude punching helped Morales assess his situation and capitalize on Maidana's stamina and predictability down the stretch. It's not like he's suddenly going to be giving Khan or Bradley problems. I could see him giving problems to guys who focus on power, but against sharp, young boxers? No way in hell.

This only goes to show how Morales's defense is better than Ortiz's, Khan's, which is somewhat shameful.

Now against Corley, there he looked pitiful!
and morales right off the bat got a thumb in the eye which quikly closed up. the guy came alive in mid rounds. it was amazing.

maidana sort of lost confidents now and then and doing his caveman no defense thing. eating two plates of leather to serve one.
