Nobuhiro Ishida is 23(8)-6-2. only person i know on dude's resume is a loss to canelo's older brother rigoberto, and he isn't even that good. kirkland needs to work on his defense to protect that chin of his. and yeah, cotto wouldve probably stopped him as well. maybe kirkland works on his flaws and comes back better, but we're just going to have to wait and see though....

pre-prison Kirkland may be able to do it, but those 2 years of prison time clearly screwed him up and set him back a lot.

Don't forget he took bombs from Julio and ate them like candy and gets TKO'd tonight by a soft puncher, so obviously there is a difference there.

He did too much weight training in prison. He has 2 lbs handing over his shoulders by his neck alone.

he also got out of shape, there were reports at one point he was at 190 pounds.

You just can't stay in boxing shape in prison. Even if he's lifting weights, doing cardio, etc. it's not boxing. It's not sparring. It's not working the heavybags, etc etc etc.

In hindsight I think there were two issues maybe - they moved him too fast fight 3 guys in 5 weeks - rather than just having him in the gym for some months, getting into proper shape, sparring, working on technique, etc., and two, maybe Kenny Adams isn't the right trainer for him and maybe, Wolfe was the right person for him.

They said Adams collapsed in the dressing room after the fight and he's 70 years old. Kellerman mentioned that kirkland didn't like some of the training and that Adams is too old to work him right. I dunno. Just a disaster all around it appears.

Yeah but I You Tubed some of his fights last night and he has been stunned and wobbled a hand full of times in his young career. That said he didnt look like he was in his usual shape.

How about Kirkland vs Lemiuex and the winner retires?

yeah he'd been wobbled and dropped but it was always because he was off balance or didn't see the punch coming. When he was dropped he would get up at the count of one and then proceed to destroy his opponent.

I mean the punching power of Julio is obviously much more than Ishida and he ate Julio's shots with no trouble at all. And he ate quite a few bombs from Julio.

With Ishida it was literally the first clean shot that landed on him dropped him. And he was hurt, as he didn't recover. There is a difference there.
