i do box, i got my nose broke literally last week for the 5th time, so dont make assumptionsEasy for you and others on this forum to question peoples toughness when you yourself are not in the ring and not boxing, taking punishment and standing and trading with a boxer when you have the speed advantage...UH THAT DON'T MAKE YOU TOUGH...it means your ******! guys who take punishment do so because they don't have the Speed, Footwork or Reflex to do avoid punishment
bottom line, the expectation for BLACK FIGHTERS will ALWAYS BE HIGHER because of the RICH HISTORY, every black fighter will always be compared to other LEGENDARY BLACK FIGHTERS so automatically many of them will have UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS ANYWAY, then when they don't live up to being another Tyson or Leonard or Mayweather, people like yourself will be quick to call them "OVERRATED"
I don't get into the whole race BS because I never watched boxing like that and I never will, but people on this forum seems to go crazy when a black fighter loses or even a Rican fighter, much more then when somebody else loses
but as someone else posted, EVERY COUNTRY HYPE THEIR OWN and that is true, its is because Showtime and HBO does most of its production from the US...OF COURSE you are going to see them hype up American Fighters, just like when I watch the UK broadcast, they hype of their OWN and talk more about their own legends
and HYPE is not just some little website talking about a fighter, HYPE is when many websites and magazines is calling a fighter "THE NEXT BIG THING", Lemieux was hyped way more then KIRKLAND, Lemieux just last week was talking about breaking down Sergio Martinez, HYPE is what Saul Alvarez is getting right now, when you basically LABEL this guy "THE NEXT BIG THING" before he even beats a TOP FIGHTER
am i good? no. do i get paid for it. no. i do it for enjoyment, and i know when i walk about the street im prepared for whatever. from what your saying that means guys like michael katsidas isnt tough, he's ******. ok.
i think that about every american fighter nowadays are not as tough as they used to be. i could add victor ortix, kermit cintron to the list etc thats not racism, thats xenophobic, maybe, it just so happens that it is predominently african americans. are these guys braver than me? absolutley. Marvin Hagler said himself on the On the Ropes Podcast that fighters are not as brave as what they used to be, ducking everyone and everything, i call it the floyd mayweather effect
and doing THIS does NOT bring your POINT acrossComment

I don't understand how anyone could consider these guys overhyped. Are you overhyped because you get talked about? Well if that's the case any American coming through the ranks is overhyped. Boxing is still pretty popular in America, compared to many nations and this site is American. Also, we have a lot of fighters.Comment

It's because this is an american dominant website. If this site was based in Europe I'm sure there would be a lot of this for European up and comers as well. It's nationalism. It's terrible but then again it's beautiful.Comment

This being said on the day after David Lemiuex gets his clock cleaned.
Anyone out of jail can get caught up like Kirkland did. It's another thing to get completely outclassed and beat like Lemiuex did. I'd much rather be in James's shoes than Davids.
P.S. it's a joke that Lemiuex gets a pass and James gets called scum.Comment

Haha the fat yanks really are upset today
Dont say anything about their fighters TS,they might get offended
They can go around on here saying anything they like about other fighters but you cant say anything about American fighters, they are the dominant force in boxing hahaha what a fucking jokeComment

This and also
Obviously this is a very stereotypical world, but u can pin media-hype against an entire race (especially sense the media, and most promoters r white/non-black)
Victor Ortiz was suppose to be the next Oscar De La Hoya, I wonder why... Amir Khan and De La Hoya have similar fighting style and they're both olympians, why isn't Amir Khan the next De La Hoya? Maybe its becuz he's not Mexican American?
Wait for the next Filipino to start coming on the rise and I guarentee he'll be labeled "the next Manny Pacquiao". And if he fails, r u gonna pin it on the Filipino people?Comment
