Kirkland will bounce back. It's not like he got KTFO Ricky Hatton style. He still has a lot left. I think he was just being rushed. Kirkland fought 3 times in like 5 weeks. They should've been fighting him once every 8 weeks or something. Give him time to try and get back down to his natural weight class of 154.

i dont agree witht the thread starter but there can be no doubt that african american fighters, with some expections like cloud, bradley, are not as tough as what they used to be. i dont think its racist to mention this, mexicans are as tough as always, things havent changed much

dawson - see the two johnson fights, pascal, he has talent but i question his heart - i could say that about a lot of african fighters nowadays, hagler they are not

Easy for you and others on this forum to question peoples toughness when you yourself are not in the ring and not boxing, taking punishment and standing and trading with a boxer when you have the speed advantage...UH THAT DON'T MAKE YOU TOUGH...it means your ******! guys who take punishment do so because they don't have the Speed, Footwork or Reflex to do avoid punishment

bottom line, the expectation for BLACK FIGHTERS will ALWAYS BE HIGHER because of the RICH HISTORY, every black fighter will always be compared to other LEGENDARY BLACK FIGHTERS so automatically many of them will have UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS ANYWAY, then when they don't live up to being another Tyson or Leonard or Mayweather, people like yourself will be quick to call them "OVERRATED"

I don't get into the whole race BS because I never watched boxing like that and I never will, but people on this forum seems to go crazy when a black fighter loses or even a Rican fighter, much more then when somebody else loses

but as someone else posted, EVERY COUNTRY HYPE THEIR OWN and that is true, its is because Showtime and HBO does most of its production from the US...OF COURSE you are going to see them hype up American Fighters, just like when I watch the UK broadcast, they hype of their OWN and talk more about their own legends

and HYPE is not just some little website talking about a fighter, HYPE is when many websites and magazines is calling a fighter "THE NEXT BIG THING", Lemieux was hyped way more then KIRKLAND, Lemieux just last week was talking about breaking down Sergio Martinez, HYPE is what Saul Alvarez is getting right now, when you basically LABEL this guy "THE NEXT BIG THING" before he even beats a TOP FIGHTER

And Kirkland.. don't get me started on him. Kirkland was supposed to KTFO Martinez and Williams.. KO Cotto, Margarito, Angulo and even Pacquiao.

Kirk is strong, exciting and very flawed and that's about it. I feel you are threatened by black fighters, so you look for any loss as a way to openly/undercover say (See! see!, blacks aren't all that),..

If you think about it, were those two really that hyped up in the first place? I didn't even know who Jacobs was until he got KO'd. And how many true fans does Kirkland have? How many guys even have his picture on their avatar or sig? Of course there was some hype about him because he is the kind of fighter a lot of us like to see. Canelo is also the type of fighter we like to see, thats why there is so much hype around him, but most of his fans will admit he has a long ways to go. What you think you are seeing in black fighters also happens with PR fighters, white fighters, and Mexican fighters around here. Its human nature to get excited about a fighter from your race that is doing good. *******s are the best example of that. lol Don't single out blacks on this because we are all guilty of this.

Dont know about Kirkland but i know Jacobs had a healthy amateur career, which adds to the standing, also an Athletic Slugger Quite good boxer who is black is and will always be more marketable then any white fighter!!!

Black, Mexicans,Whites, Other in order of what people wanna see in boxing, now the MMA may be different!!
