Thanks for posting the fight up. I agree that Cortez should have let Kirkland continue. JMM looked hurt worse against Pacquiao after the three KD's in their first fight and he went on to make a good, close fight out of it. Cortez and Cole are the two worst referees right now and although this wasn't a terrible Cortez job, a guy like Kirkland should have been given one more chance. He wasn't that hurt...

His defense needs to improve immensely. He lunged forward and over extended himself to be able to get caught coming in. He needs to possibly adopt a Tyson-like defensive style; high guard, side to side head movement and jab or work his way in. His shoddy defense was exposed in his last fight and this Ishida guy did his homework.

I don't know if Kirkland can come back or not to be a serious player but from what I just saw, I have a feeling he is going to go the Jeff Lacy route and never become what people thought. Personally I think he was rushed too quickly after prison and now needs a solid three months of training while focusing on adopting some kind of defensive style and learning not to lunge in with his punches...

    • Question is did Kirkland's team knew something about ishida that will cause problems, i didn't think so besides the height advantage. GBP probably thought this will be an easy fight for kirkland since he's an up and coming fighter with no defeats. Did they even look up this fighter (ishida)?. Imagine if i knew something about Ishida, i would have placed my bets on him instantly. Maybe kirkland need to jump to Top Rank and when he becomes a star jump ship again to GBP like Donaire did.

No doubt Kirkland can come back but i would change is trainer and promoter and jump to Top Rank. Both the promoter and trainer is at fault. They probably think it will be an easy fight and underestimating the opponent since he's Japanese. and with his record is no match for kirkland. No doubt he needs more training and defense. He can still come up but i suggest he replace everybody and go to TR and get promoted right and jump ship to GBP when he is a star like Donaire did LoL.

            • The Racket Squad: Made-ana To Order

The redemption of Erik Morales was the shock of the evening.
It was the kind of night Boxing has needed for a very long time.

This does not mean that Roy Jones stands a chance in hell but it will certainly inspire the elder fistic statesman.

Kirkland was just another victim of a young life filled with lousy decisions and the inevitable discovery of a glass jaw.

Another prodigy hits the dust. Right Max?
Now, just watch what Rhodes does to Canelo in June.

See how that works out for you........moron
No one says Blacks are inferior as people but as a race, they are below anyone else in terms of progress, honor, bravery, etc. The 10 poorest countries in the world are in Africa. As for America, Haiti is crap, alot worse than any Latino country.

                  • SluggerFan, you need to get a clue. NOT ONLY was Kirkland knocked down 3 times he was BADLY wobbled and hurt 2 other times when he wasn't being dropped! Anyone who thinks he wasn't badly hurt is not very bright. He would have been hurt even more if it continued. He was DONE! One had a chin, the other did not!

For the record, most certainly not all black athletes are unsportsmanlike. But, one would have to be delusional if they stated that the majority of them are not.

It's just fact. No harm intended.
Let's take a look at a few of the undoubtedly good sportsman in your own all time fav list, found in you sig..

Vitali Klitschko - never gives proper respect to Lennox Lewis for getting beaten by him, makes fighters sign very unsportsmanlike contracts.
                      Good Sport? Negative.

Ricky Hatton - actually says he was "doing well" against Mayweather and Pacquiao before he got KO'd. Blamed referee for loss against Mayweather and bad training camp for loss against Pacquiao.
                      Good Sport? Negative.

Wladimir Klitschko - makes fighters sign very unfair, lopsided, unsportsmanlike contracts. Fought rematch with Brewster only when he knew he'd been inactive for over a year due to an injury.
                      Good Sport? Negative.

Joe Calzaghe - said Roy Jones "isn't the same fighter" he used to be during the training camp for their fight. Very sportsmanlike to knowingly fight a shot fighter.
                      Good Sport? Negative.

So don't say generalized crap about any particular race when some of your own all time favorites say otherwise. A lot of boxers have inflated egos, white, black, asian, mexican or whatever..
