WOW!! Kirkland 5'9" & Ishida 6'2" yet they had the SAME reach & it looked like Kirkland was going to BREAK this rare tall ass skinny Japanese fighter in half!! & for anyone(like Me) that has seen Kirkland plenty of times before tonight, this 1st round KO was just unbelievable & amazing at the same time!! Especially when Ishida has the same featherfisted power as Malignaggi & Calderón!!! The 1st knockdown seemed weird, from the 1st angle(on the TV) it looked like the shot barely touched Kirland & he just crumbled!! Then the 2nd shot was clear that it caught him flush & the 3rd was just bye bye for Kirkland, no sense on letting it go on...Yet Kirland had the NERVE to say he was alright & that the ref shouldn't have stopped it & didn't give ANY props to Ishida & even told Kellerman they were flash knockdowns & then tried to explain to Kellerman what a Flash knockdown was!!! & then(taking advantage of the questioned being asked by Kellerman about his new trainer compared to his old trainer-Ann Wolf)Kirkland tried to blame it on his training by saying it was OK but not all that great!!! Kirkland was just looking for excuses, what a saw looser!! Against Martinez, Kirkland would had suffered just 1 knockdown, cause THAT'S WHAT WOULD HAVE TAKEN MARTINEZ TO KNOCK HIM THE *** OUT!!!

I don't know man. Them punches looked and sounded like they landed on Kirkland to me.

Cortez is a pos, Kirkland was easily gonna get up. Has everyone forgot about his fight with Allen Conyers? I'm sick of referees thinking they have a right to be the focal point in the fight and that's exactly what Cortez tried to do.

Kirkland will be back and will be hungry and more prepared. He will knock Ishida out in the rematch, not worried at all about James's career.

James Kirkland was beat and would have continued to get beat up if Cortez let the fight go on. Eventhough I would have not stopped the fight so fast, you can't really get too upset with the stoppage because Cortez was in the ring seeing Kirkland get manhandled. Japanese dude was too fast for Kirkland. Cortez do needs to retire though because he looks like he wants to get more shine then the fighters.

Like I said before. Sergio Martinez can beat anyone in or around his weight class. The problem with the young fighters at this day and age is that they are being to well groomed instead of tested early on to toughn them up. Once you are used to light fights, stepping up against a hungry fighter can result in an embarrassing beat down. Lots of undefeated and young fighters are losing badly nowadays.

Why does it have to be an American thing? Could have happened to anyone. ESPECIALLY since alot of young fighters are not being properly tested nowadays.

If he's getting knocked out by featherfisted fighters then Kirkland is in BIG trouble. Kirkland will be a journeyman imo.
