you must be a black american. I went through this in my neighborhood. I grew up playing ball with black americans, & as a white guy, they found it awfully hard to give me props whenever we played ball. Almost every time i made a great defensive play on one of the better black ball players, they called foul. If i made a great move to the basket they called traveling.
you're grandson material ....that might fly over ya head but don't worry about it!! LOL
just watched a poor quality version of this fight on youtube and wow is all i can say. The first knockdown came from a punch he never saw but the other 2 just looked like a guy with no chin getting chopped around. crazy stuff.
knew it was gonna happen eventually but never did i expect it to be tonight from a feather fisted fighter
This sure didn't look like the Kirkland that we saw before he was incarcerated. Alow, wide open, no reflexes. He can argue all he wants about the fight being stopped but the fact is, he was dropped THREE times by a guy with 6 KO's!
man, and kellerman in the beginning was saying "kirkland is suppose to beat the hell out of him". it was a stay busy fight...did you guys see cortez trying to sit on top of kirkland? i dont like cortez but james wouldve been knocked down again for sure...hopefully kirkland learns from this fight and comes back better. (with some defense skills)
No defense, comes in with his chin open, no respect for his opponent, was bound to happen...
I couldn't believe people wanted to see him fight Martinez...I didn't expect him to lose to this guy though...the last 2 KD's didn't even look like big shots...first one he clearly didn't see...
WOW!! Kirkland 5'9" & Ishida 6'2" yet they had the SAME reach & it looked like Kirkland was going to BREAK this rare tall ass skinny Japanese fighter in half!! & for anyone(like Me) that has seen Kirkland plenty of times before tonight, this 1st round KO was just unbelievable & amazing at the same time!! Especially when Ishida has the same featherfisted power as Malignaggi & Calderón!!! The 1st knockdown seemed weird, from the 1st angle(on the TV) it looked like the shot barely touched Kirland & he just crumbled!! Then the 2nd shot was clear that it caught him flush & the 3rd was just bye bye for Kirkland, no sense on letting it go on...Yet Kirland had the NERVE to say he was alright & that the ref shouldn't have stopped it & didn't give ANY props to Ishida & even told Kellerman they were flash knockdowns & then tried to explain to Kellerman what a Flash knockdown was!!! & then(taking advantage of the questioned being asked by Kellerman about his new trainer compared to his old trainer-Ann Wolf)Kirkland tried to blame it on his training by saying it was OK but not all that great!!! Kirkland was just looking for excuses, what a saw looser!! Against Martinez, Kirkland would had suffered just 1 knockdown, cause THAT'S WHAT WOULD HAVE TAKEN MARTINEZ TO KNOCK HIM THE *** OUT!!!
Ishida current abilities aren't reflected that well in his overall record. Most of his losses came early in his career. He apparently has won the majority of his recent fights convincingly with one split decision loss in Mexico. And half of his KOs came in his recent fights, so his power may also not be accurately reflected on his record. I don't think Golden Boy did their research on this guy and had Kirkland convinced this was a guy he could walk through. The same mistake was made Friday night with Lemiuex.
Are you guys really that shocked? A poster made a thread with a clip of Kirklands last fight a few weeks ago, and the opponent damn near put him on ***** street with a plain ass shot while backed into a corner.
Boxing fans have said Kirkland was a KO waiting to happen for a minute now. Very impressive win for the 35 year old Japanese fighter, tonight was the best night of his life.

You could be right, but Ishida is not a big puncher.
He's quick, and Kirkland didn't seem to see most of the shots that landed.
The right hand that got the ko was snuck in behind a jab, I doubt that he saw it coming, but you couldn't call Ishida a vicious puncher.
