exactly. it is what it is. floyd wanted absolutely NO PART of margarito despite how big of a paycheck he would have made . . . And because of that, you can't make up a hypothetical win over margarito.

And let's say for a second floyd has an incredible workrate, which he doesn't. He still wouldn't be able to hurt Margarito enough to slow him down.

Sure he's got his legs, but marg is a master at closing space, and even if he runs track for 6 rounds, marg is eventually gonna walk him down.

Or he'd be boo'd so much for running(because he'll have to run the entire 3 minutes of every round to be safe) that he'd be forced to fight, or everybody loses respect.

okey kid, im gonna try to go easy on you and explain respectfully why u are wrong since u are new to boxing.


1. floyd doesnt have to use his legs all the time, one of his greatest assets is his ability to stay right on the inside and still avoid punches. extremely rare talent in modern boxing, only floyd, toney and hopkins can do this effectively. against a wide swinging guy like margarito he would have success doing this for much of the fight.

2. floyd does have the stamina to use his legs for 12 rounds if he needs to, he has on several occassions fought under tremendous pressure or at a very high pace.

3. margarito isnt a master at closing space at all, which fighter are u watching? hes always coming forward cranking up the pressure but hes surprisingly bad at cutting of the ring and very easy to turn. floyd would turn him all night similar to the way williams and mosley did even without throwing a bunch of punches.

4. floyd never ran in his career and he wouldnt start now. u cant win a fight running. u are mistaking running with moving. moving is using your legs to get out of range from incoming punches or change angles but still looking to land punches of your own, u can use your legs to set up punches and counterpunches. this is what floyd does.

running is just trying to get out of the way with no intention of landing your own punches. show me a round where floyd doesnt land a punch and i will admit hes a runner, u cant. DLH ran in the closing rounds against tito, didnt try to land any punches. olajide ran almost all night against hearns, just tried to survive and didnt thrown any punches back.

5. who says floyd cant wear tony down? we all seen what a great chin margarito has, but we also seen him get hurt badly to the body. u dont have to be a big pcunher to hurt someone to the body, they accumulate as the fight goes on. on top of that floyd isnt a bad puncher at all and hes an excellent bodypuncher.

its irrelevant though since floyd wouldnt have to wear margarito down, he could just outbox him all night. margarito is the perfect oponent for floyd. slow, predictable, straight forward, no jab, no headmovement.. just puts on pressure and wears guys down, but he wouldnt be able to touch floyd enough to wear him down and floyd has the stamina to box for 12 rounds. thats what he would do, box his ass of for 12 rounds and walk out of the ring without a scratch.

you're a pacart so no one here expects u to understand boxing but common u serious..margarito is so slow..has no defense..it takes 5 minutes for one of his jabs to arrive once he throws it..thats how slow he is..floyd would play with him like a school girl..pacquiao smashed him and we all know how bad pacs boxing skills are once the opponent is not weight drained

The boxing style of Margarito will give floyd a lot of trouble.

I am not saying Margarito has the better boxing skills than floyd, because all he has in his arsenal is his heart and unceasing onslaught style. But those are the only things he need to give floyd the pits.

Margarito does not respect anyone's punches and he will not respect floyd's. In spite of being battered by Pac in every round, he kept coming and it nearly paid off in the 6th round. He didn't let up until the end of the bout.

He knows floyd can't hurt him so will keep the pressure on for the entire fight. He will throw those uppercuts and hooks with machine like frequency. In my opinion, this style is going to overwhelm floyd.

Floyd got the better of Mosley and props to him for that performance. The difference however, between Mosley and Margarito is huge when it comes to pressure boxing. Mosley surprisingly didn't go for the kill or didn't keep the pressure on after that huge right hook he landed on floyd. He actually became a lame fighter after that fateful 2nd round. Margarito won't do such thing.

It is so easy to say floyd will fight in the center of the ring. That he will frequently turn Margarito, that he will skillfully counter-punch to make Margarito think before he throws his punches. Nevertheless, even with all the turning and counterpunching, Margarito will keep on throwing and he will connect. When he connects, you better believe it, unlike Mosley, he will follow it up with more punches. His workrate increases dramatically everytime he connects.

Hatton is also a pressure fighter and yet got KOed by floyd. Remember however, that Hatton gave floyd problems during the early rounds. 6th round onwards, Hatton can't keep up the pressure anymore when floyd had him figured out. Besides he can't hurt floyd with his punches. Margarito will be different and will keep the pressure even if figured out because that is his style. He will be able to hurt floyd because he is a big welterweight.

In my opinion, Margarito's style will give floyd a lot of trouble.

I too am not so sure if floyd can win against margarito. But floyd has the advantage in my opnion.

I always felt Marga's beats May,height pressure and the fact that May would not be able to stop Marga's from coming forward..But now that we all know that Marga's had the plaster I'm just thankful he did not fight Marga's and most likely get career ending injuries..
