A combo of things, divorce, thinking they'll always have another big payday fight in them, spending too much to take care of their family, getting taken advantage of by friends and family. Luxory taxes when they're retired with no retirement plan.

Happens to football players frequently too. I think its the high of being on top of the game, and feeling like theres always another big season or a big fight.
You strugle your whole life, get some big paydays and you want to spend it on luxory **** that you "diserve" for working so hard. Rather than getting **** payed for up front in cash.

People financing 12million dollar homes instead of just owning a cozy little 2million mansion. Who cares the first wife will take it anyway.

What if you end up broke because you don't pay taxes? Look at Joe Louis.

Joe Louis didn't pay attention to his finances. At points he had the money to pay his taxes but didn't because he wasn't pay attention or left it to someone to do and they didn't and he spent that money. Also it was the fines for not paying his taxes the really did Joe Louis in.

Yes some people don't pay taxes cause they are broke. Some don't pay cause they not paying attention to their finances but actually have the money to pay it but just didn't. Like I said 2 very very different things.
