I think Stewart is a legendary trainer, no doubt I just don't think you can teach an old dog new tricks. I think the best thing Stewart is doing for Cotto is putting him in a much more organized training camp, where he has taken control of the whole camp and Cotto is answering to him. Instead of having that power struggle he did with his uncle.

As far as who is better between him and Garcia, well all time I would say it's Stewart easily because of his record and history with Kronk gym.

I do think that Garcia is a big up and comer though and he is young, has a bigger stable of fighters and I think it's safe to say Stewart is only doing this part time where as Garcia is hungry right now and building fighters from the bottom up.

Both though are great for the sport and I think in a short time, Garcia will be recognized as the new version of Freddie Roach.
I was talking about Cotto's power vs those guys. The snap they had in his last two fights is better than the ones he had ve Clottey and Pacquiao.

So you think Cotto has gotten more powerful?

        I don't think so.

Look Cotto is past it already, his best days are behind him. It's not saying he isn't still a good fighter but his prime is in the rear view mirror.

I think Cotto is trying to go back to his boxing days and the way he USED to move. I think he can train that way and Stewart can go back to that, but when push comes to shove in a major fight, he's going to go back to what he does best and that is try and bully people with his power.

He fights best going forward, it's what he does, what he will always do.

right now. Garcia. The jobs he has done on the likes of Rios, Donaire and his little brother Mikey has elevated each of their status this year. He has a stable of prospects that are pretty damn good as well (Alfonso Blanco, Robert Rodriguez, Francisco Contreras)

all time Manny and it isn't even close but the last guy he brought up from scratch was who? Andy Lee? other than that he is more mercenary than actual trainer.

Thank you somebody can see through the BS. Not saying Steward was not a good trainer but RIGHT NOW if I had I fighter no way would I let Steward train him.

yeah and even if your an experienced pro you have to see where Manny's head is in regards to what he thinks about you. To be honest I thought the job he did with Taylor was horrendous.

It's not BS, so just because Stewart isn't a full time trainer anymore he all of a sudden forgot what he's doing?

Garcia is more active, has more fighters in his stable but Stewart is an ATG trainer and that never leaves you.

Nobody has mentioned that Steward trains the pretty-much-consensus HW champ (I think his brother is better so guess I'm not part of the consensus) who, whether we like it or not, has done nothin' but win for quite awhile now.

So that makes 2 (Wlad & MC) current big-name, very good-to-great (depending on one's perspective) active fighters Manny trains.

Donaire might...might eclipse these 2 in terms of accomplishments and renown, but the jury is still out. Brandon Rios? Possibly as well, but I don't think so.

Hence, imo, Steward is the better trainer currently as well as in an all-time sense (where Garcia probably will never catch him).
