Floyd Mayweather Jr won a split decision over a faded Oscar De La Hoya. He beat a much smaller, old Juan Manuel Marquez and an old Genaro Hernandez, and an age 38 Shane Mosley.
His other opponents such as Baldomir and Hatton were good but not really elite fighters.
Why didn't Floyd face Oscar or Shane when they were in their PRIME? Why didn't he fight Tszyu, Casamayor and Forrest some years ago?
Floyd has never defeated an elite fighter in his prime.
No matter who Floyd beat, haters like you would have an excuse. When guys that you worship, like GGG and Alvarez, move up five weight divisions, win titles in every one of those divisions and beat the best opponents in that division, then haters like you can come on this message board and talk s...t about Floyd. Until then, you should stay silent because you DKSAB.Comment

The TS has a different definition of elite than someone who actually knows something about boxing. The TS thinks Willie Munroe Jr. and David Lemieux are elite fighters.Comment

So floyd "wasn't serious" yet paid (borrowed) $750k (from James Prince) to get out of his TR contract to get to ODH and Shane. Is that a move by someone not "serious"?
How is asking a question being biased?
I agree that Shane left alot in the ring when Vernon hit him with the uppercut but he wasn't done by any means. My point remains that Shane controlled fighting floyd earlier than he did. The toothache shouldn't have prevented the fight from happening.
What did shane mosley do when he wanted to fight oscar in 2000? first they were only 2 weightclasses apart(and Mosley was KO'ing everybody), he moved up 2 weightclasses, KO'ed 2 welterweights and got his fight.
What did 130lb floyd do?move up to 135 in 2002, move up to 140 in 2004 move up to 147 in 2005....
by 2006 Oscar had looked like **** at middleweight, retired and was coming back at 154 against a convenient opponent who would sell but would be there to be hit.
Shane's career was recently resurgent at 154(by beating a name not a contender), he moved down, beat collazo(contender). and he got derailed by Cotto before Floyd anyway.Like i said two legit wins in 7-8 years before the floyd fight.Last edited by -Hyperion-; 09-08-2015, 02:19 PM.Comment

Guy has gone thru 5 divisions and defeated the #1/lineal champion in everyone of them
Defeated more world champions then anyone else in history
Won the most world titles the anyone else in history(12)
Tied with the most divisional lineal titles(4)
And you make a ****** ass thread like this?Comment

Floyd wasn't a nobody, but he wasn't a big household name. He was very much a huge risk for any big earner near his weight. I think this is why they chose not to fight him.Comment

I find it amazing that haters like you can come on this site and discount everything that Mayweather has accomplished in his career, while in the same breath make excuses for nobodies like Golovkin.

Yes, sure! That jab would have shut down Mayweather the same way it shut down Ricardo Mayorga. In case you don't know who Mayorga is, he is the guy who knocked Forest out in the third round and left Forest with a deer-in-the-headlights look on his face. If it hadn't been for the knockout, that jab would have shut Mayorga down!Comment
