It's up to us fans to demand better as long as we allow promoters and channels like HBO to dictate they will.

Not really his fault, and hey, HBO's money is there for the taking.

And I don't think it's hate, people are just tired of him fighting stiffs and 140 pounders. Either he steps up in competition or he doesn't get TV fights anymore. Seems fair at this point, but it's long overdue.
reading this forum reminds me of how we all feel about gas prices. we want to make changes to how things are done but don't know they steps to take to make things improve.

the funny thing is usually it's because a guy is really popular or is very marketable, and it's understandable at that point - boxing is a business and people want to make money. We get that and often times, it's accepted. But with berto, you just got to scratch your head and wonder wtf hbo is thinking. His ratings are poor every time he fights, he has no fanbase not even in his home town and on top of that, he's not very exciting! It's like wow does al haymon have naked photos of Ross Greenberg or what? makes no sense

I personally like Berto as a person, I think he's a swell guy. I was also a fan of his, but I've grown tired of this, he was prospect of the year in 2006 and up till now he's still fighting opponents that prospects fight.

Ortiz is a good name, but again another 140 pounder and a guy who isn't even the best at 140. He's not even the 2nd best, or 3rd best or 4th best.

On top of that he's priced himself out against Mosley and Cotto. Not a good look for a pretty untested guy without a fanbase who is constantly talking about fighting big fights (and even pac & floyd). Yes this has a lot to do with Al Haymon and HBO overpaying him to fight bums, but some of the blame has to go on Berto too.
I thought sturm got robbed vs dlh, I don't blame him for staying home lately.

that was a good excuse 7 years ago. But in 2011 he's still fighting guys like Ronald Hearns.

compare that to sergio martinez who fought here a few times, then robbed against Cintron and got the short end of the stick against Williams in back to back fights and rather than leaving he stuck with it, beating pavlik then williams etc.

Sturm got a bad decision loss against a legend, went home and 7 years later still fighting bums

He hasn't lived up to the potential and momentum he had earlier in his career, he became comfortable with making millions againsts journeymen.

                I don't hate him, i'm just disappointed.
