Depends on what I wanted to accomplish in boxing. If I just wanted to be paid and fight lesser opponents, sure I would be contempt having a career like Sven Ottke or Felix Strum.

But if I wanted to prove I was a great fighter, I would demand my people get me the best fights possible, at any cost necessary. Berto talks a big game, so you'd think he cares about his legacy.

I personally like Berto as a person, I think he's a swell guy. I was also a fan of his, but I've grown tired of this, he was prospect of the year in 2006 and up till now he's still fighting opponents that prospects fight.

Ortiz is a good name, but again another 140 pounder and a guy who isn't even the best at 140. He's not even the 2nd best, or 3rd best or 4th best.

On top of that he's priced himself out against Mosley and Cotto. Not a good look for a pretty untested guy without a fanbase who is constantly talking about fighting big fights (and even pac & floyd). Yes this has a lot to do with Al Haymon and HBO overpaying him to fight bums, but some of the blame has to go on Berto too.

Every star is protected to an extent, but Berto could set an all-time record if this keeps up. Can't remember the last time I saw a fighter on TV this long who had faced maybe only one or two decent names.

Not really his fault, and hey, HBO's money is there for the taking.

And I don't think it's hate, people are just tired of him fighting stiffs and 140 pounders. Either he steps up in competition or he doesn't get TV fights anymore. Seems fair at this point, but it's long overdue.

That is pretty much it, if he starts beating good fighters his size I might become a fan......but I don't think he is elite material from what I have seen.

I meant more so in a fighter who got paid alot from jump that wasn't proven yet. Khan was an experiment up until the Madiana fight. Just lucky for him things worked out in his favor.
